Title Correction: Is having only good flaws something only a fictional character can have? What about a human/real person?

In fiction, most character have flaws that are good or even bad. I know that human/real people have flaws that make them imperfect. Yet can those imperfections be a good thing? What I am getting at is can a human/real person have flaws and imperfections that are good? Or does that only work for fictional characters? I've been thinking about it and just wanted to know.

What do you think?

This is a slight continuation from this thread.

I'd like to think that imperfections can be a good thing outside of fiction as well. Everybody has something different about them and that is kind of what differentiates one person from another. Small things probably wouldn't be called "flaws" per say, but larger things that set people apart could be good depending on the situation. If someone is deaf for instance, that would be an "imperfection" that some people would view as bad, but if their spouse or whatever happens to be a mute for instance, then their individual two "flaws" are just addition things that make them special without interfering with anything. Maybe that isn't the best example, but hopefully my point came across.

Quick question: Does your favorite character have a flaw/imperfection that makes them stand out?

Sure. It really depends on what's considered a flaw and who considers it that way. For instance, someone may think their OCD is a flaw in their personality. However, for someone else, they may view the other person's constant need to keep everything orderly as a positive trait.

I'd love to answer that question but I don't really have a favorite character. Sorry. However, most characters do have some sort of flaw that differs from the other characters that makes them stand out in whatever particular anime they're in though so I guess by proxy the answer would be yeah.

Alright. I wanted to ask you a somewhat personal question but that might be pushing it.

Was the "favorite character" thing the personal question? If not, go for it. Ask away.

No.

Is there an imperfection about yourself that you consider good?

Flaws are good, for me when a character has anxieties they become way more relateable, when they're scared or weak, makes them more relateable.

Sure. I guess there are plenty of things that have varying degrees of "helpfulness" for lack of a better word, haha. Small stuff like irregular sleep (I guess it’d be called night terrors or whatever) is a "flaw", not a huge one granted, but on the up side of it I'm awake right now and hopefully helping you out with your questions. I have an aversion to talking to people, which is a "flaw" in social skills but due to that I have excelled at all kinds of other things (terrible conversationalist but a great listener, hate talking but I'm incredibly well read, I can pick-up on what people are doing without needing to have a conversation with them, that type of deal). Then there are bigger things like I had gotten hypothermia and frostbite when I was younger so now I don't really perceive temperature that well. I would consider it good I guess because I can tolerate being outside a lot longer and better than other people. It’s like a low-key superpower, haha.

Thank you very much for answering.

Was the question pushing the boundary a little?

Nah, I don't particularly care all that much. Plus, its online. It's not like you're in my face grilling me for answers or anything crazy. I can just not include something if I don't want to talk about it. If you have questions, no need to hold back. The worst somebody can do is say they'd rather not answer that particular question.

Alrighty then. Though that was the only question I wanted to ask.
