Post Reply Beta HTML5 Player Not Loading

Ever since this past Friday, the beta HTML5 player has not been working (at least for me, anyway). Up to that point, the new player has been working out fine. But on Friday, for some reason, the player just does not load the video at all, regardless of what it is, and still persists to this day. However, videos on the old Flash player work like they normally do. In fact, other sites that use HTML5 work fine for me, too, like Youtube and the new FUNimation site.

If anyone can provide me with some insight as to what 's going on, be it staff or other community members, I would greatly appreciate it!

P.S. I use the latest Google Chrome browser with all related features full up-to-date and am a Premium+ Subscriber.

Don't worry, it isn't just you. There seems to be a syntax error in the code for the player preventing it from playing anything. Hopefully they will have it working again in the next update they push.

Thank you very much for telling me this, I really appreciate this. In fact, after I made this post, I decided to try out the player on a Macbook that my folks own. Turns out the problem isn't just on Chrome, but also on Firefox, too. Safari, however, works fine.

Hey beardfist, just wondering if you knew how long it normally takes for CR to fix the error you mentioned earlier, if you have any idea at all? Also, I looked into the HTML5 player you made and was curious as to how well it works for playing CR videos?

If you can respond back anytime soon, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

I have no idea how long it will take for them to fix it. I have seen simple errors take 6+ months or a couple days. I would assume that this one should be fixed in a week or so at most as it should be a pretty high priority as it is likely the player that will be used over at VRV when it launches on PC.

The player I made is based on the same tech that the one CR made, so it is mostly the same performance-wise. It has all the important things like respecting default subtitle language when possible, autoplay, resuming where you left off and updating your viewing history, the only drawback being that you have to sign in through it. It should be enough to hold you over until CR makes a more feature complete (or even functional) player without having to resort to flash.

Quick bump.

Was having the same issue, all of a sudden I tested it and it started to work again. It appears that the problem was fixed a few days ago.
Can anyone else confirm?

@shinryou, just to let you know, the player is not working once again. Please fix this as soon as you can, CR. Also, @beardfist, your custom CR player is not working, too. You might want to look into it as soon as you can. Thanks in advance!

Update: Sorry beardfist, there's nothing wrong with your player. It works fine, it was something on my end.

However, shinryou, the beta is still acting up again in the same manner as before. I do hope you/CR are trying to fix this as soon as possible. I love using the new player! Thanks a lot in advance!

It's been like this for over a week now. It's the same thing with me. I let CR know and after giving them all the info that I have about this problem, a rep said that he would forward this to the proper team. However, that was days ago, and so far, nothing has changed.

I feel better knowing I'm not the only one having this problem, and I also hope that this problem will be fixed soon.
