I am extremely open about it. Then again, the people I have met havent really been judgemental about it.

I'm pretty open about my interests, that is how you meet new people. If not this world would suck ass than it already does.

I'll hold a conversation about a show if someone brings it up but I don't go around broadcasting my anime interests.

Yes, half of the t-shirts I own are anime themed. They mostly from the anime boom era. Back when anime companies gave free t-shirts with there DVD's.

To many guys at my school, liking anime is a sort of unspoken taboo. However, people are aware that I watch anime. For example, one of my friend said that his sister tried to get him into anime and that she was an otaku. I replied that his sister and I might get along, then we talked for a couple minutes and he respected my differences. He still didn't like anime, but I was perfectly fine with that because it is purely preference. I also wear anime shirts to school once a week and they're perfectly cool about it (most likely because they don't notice that it is anime or don't get the joke). In summary, I feel that an otaku lifestyle in public is manageable and acceptable, as long as you don't annoy the hell out of the people around you.

I mean I would if I had anything to wear. If someone is upset from what another person is wearing then that's their problem not mine.

Only when I'm at the bookstore since when I go there I usually go and pick up a couple manga and read them in the store. Other than that not really cause I don't have anything anime related.

Kind of sort of. People know I like anime. They really don't care. I don't get called weird or anything. I wear anime shirts sometimes too. If anything I get compliments on my anime shirts. People in South Texas are pretty nice.

I have a few game/anime/manga related shirts. No different than wearing a Game of Thrones hoodie (which I also have) for me. I have a Tokyo Ghoul, Totoro, and One Piece keychain on my workbag. I also have a large Mononoke Hime tattoo. I read manga on the subway sometimes. I attend conventions and commute to the city in cosplay when I go. Never bothered me and it'll be a cold day in Hell before I deprive myself of that simple satisfaction because someone might think it's weird/stupid.

That said, unless I know someone is into a particular show/anime, I rarely ever talk about it with other people. I have friends who read manga or watch certain anime and we talk about those once in a while. Back in college, we used to read Naruto manga in class as soon as MS releases that week then talk about it during the break.

Well it really isn't the accepted norm to watch or like Anime in the US. But I do agree it doesn't make the people that do watch anime, losers.
