how do you guys take care of your manga / novels? do you simply stack it nicely on the shelf, or put it inside a plastic bag of some sort? do you use "manga bags" to keep your manga sealed? as for me, i'm kinda lazy so i'm just using zip-lock. it's cheap and seems to be enough to keep moisture away. probably not the most elegant solution though :p

Are the bags for humid climates? Is the moisture what turns books that yellowish colour? I just have my manga organized on a shelf.

Oxygen turns them yellow, really. Humid climates promote mold. Dry climates promote brittle pages.

Plastic bags protect against oxidation, but hold in humidity. If you are not keeping your things in sealed, climate controlled nitrogen environments, you probably will not do much to "preserve" your books.

a surprisingly good fit. it's not perfect, but should be more than enough to protect against humidity. it also holds regular-size manga, though it's a bit tight. my "is the order" manga are fairly large, so i'm storing them in a larger ziplock...until i find a better solution. :p

protecting your collection against humidity can mean the difference in 5- 10 years between a well-preserved collection and a collection that has turned yellow and look "old"

Well, I keep my manga well-organized on a bookshelf. When traveling, I put them in a zip lock back so they would not bend or get dirty.

I just keep them on a shelf in a corner out of sunlight. I have a dehumidifier running in there but i don't keep them bagged or anything. If I had anything rare or valuable I would get some sleeves but honestly I'm not too worried about it. I have some very old books that are still in really nice shape so I figure with a little 'common sense' care my manga should outlive me.

I keep my collection in storage boxes. My books love the dry cilmate. My skin does not.

I have them in a bookshelf that I built myself with my grandfather when I was a child, it's actually extremely high quality as he was a carpenter, and when I say I built myself I mean my grandfather did everything and I'm taking all the credit cause I helped paint it white.

They are there, as well as my collection of other types of books and what not.

Haha me to. I just keep mine in a box in my closet, and randomly in my nightstand.

I feel like I should take care of them better (especially my Berserk collection). Plus to be honest, I have transitioned to reading more epubs lately...

I've been putting mine on shelves. I just got done redoing it and mounting shelves to the wall. Since I can take up less floor space, then using my old bookcases for both anime/movies and manga. It's still a work in progress, since I still need to rearrange things, to make room for more anime/bluray movies. I can still expand maybe two more shelves on top. Also bought some proper bookends from Amazon. So I need to wait for them to show up.

Apart from Ouran boxset, got them all set on my Ikea shelves. Not exactly in the neatest way but I can get at them
