I'll tell you what though, FLCL improved from the manga for sure. I mean, the manga was fine, but the anime drove it home.

You can put the pillows in anything and it will make it more epic.

Won't argue with that.

actually FLCL was made the other way around. it was one of the first times those studios worked together, it didn't become that much of a hit but a cult classic, after that I forget who but someone adapted it into a manga, but I haven't seen that adaption. apparently toonami/cartoon network is thinking of making a second season of it, but in the UK we don't even have a toonami block, so I wouldn't see that either.

I can't think of any specific manga, but I did want to try and go to make anime myself, then thought just writing something by myself would be easier, and now that this question has come up I don't think I'd want to write something then see it adapted. one idea in particular that I can see having good material for an adaption, is something I'd want to have lots of control over and as such would lose many details as I lose control of how it is adapted.

I would personally love to see Love So Life animated but I'm scared that if they do they'll botch the entire thing by cutting out certain parts and adding in other parts. But on the plus side, if it was animated I'd love it if they gave us a more satisfying ending than the one the manga ended on

I think Mushoku Tensei :Jobless Reincarnation would be bad in an anime, mainly couse i'm not entirely sure they can capture the essence of the manga as well as i'd like.(mainly couse of a small kid having the mind of an old 30+ dude with lecherous thoughts thing)

Then again, some series recently seem to have been able to do just that(Miss kobayashi's Dragon Maid and Gate:and thus the Defense force fought) and while something will always be lost or changed in the process its not always a bad thing.

For example, i Read Gate only after seeing the anime(same for dragon Maid) and i still like both versions of them, mainly since they both have their series essence in it that drew me to them in the first place.

No, an anime can't ruin a manga lol........if the adaption is bad it just ruins the anime itself of something that is already establish.

I personally don't think anime doesn't take away from manga, because they're two seperate art forms.
Even if there's both an anime and a manga of a single series, I look at them as two completely seperate things, and more often than not I enjoy both the manga and the anime adaptation of a series.

No I like the manga I read to be made into an anime. I feel like they can set more of a mood and show more emotions with the characters in an anime. But that does not always happen.

Embalming! the panels and art are so beautiful, they would lose this touch if the manga got an anime, also the battles would be too hard to follow if it they were animated! Also, Arachnid would have an especially boring adaptation! The battles are mainly small actions, and big explanations (note that not all battles are like that)

If someone can really feel this way, they are so lucky ~ I've had many manga ruined by shitty voice actors or ugly animation.

Anyway. Love In Hell Would without a doubt be ruined as an anime. They would probably give the heroine a high pitched loli voice...

Oh gosh, I'm really split on this. I'd personally love to see Mushoku Tensei animated as I feel like the story and art are really well suited for animation. But given its genre and somewhat lewd content, I don't feel like it would be given the treatment it deserves. The really amazing studios have more mainstream or original projects they can focus on. I feel like Mushoku Tensei would be picked up by a smaller, less well equipped place.

The art is ridiculously beautiful and manages to convey a clear sense of action few can achieve so well. I would hate for it to end up like Tsugumomo or Noragami. The animation was great, but a lot of the beauty of the manga's careful artwork is lost in translation.

If they gave it a level of attention comparable to Re:Zero, I'd be 100% on board.

I agree with the poster above that an anime adaptation can't really ruin a manga per say; regardless of how bad the adaptation is the manga is still there, 100% intact as it was before the adaptation.

What can happen though is that it can be detrimentally affected by the adaptation like what happened with Kuma Miko. The anime's ending was so bad the author made two public statements about how much he hated what they did with it (albeit in a typically Japanese businessy, round about way) and it had a genuine impact on sales of the manga as it had coloured peoples view of it who had not already read it.

On the other hand there are plenty of manga that are difficult to adapt well especially if a unique art style is very much the signature feature/main selling point of the series.

Dorohedoro. No way in hell will it be properly adapted. Too long and too gory. So sad too because it is damn cool.

Agreed. Also I feel that the art style creates a lot of the atmosphere and it would be really hard to replicate that.

My pick would be Vagabond. I think the artwork and storytelling is amazing as it is and it would be ruined in the anime adaptation.
