All media based on profit is biased towards maximizing that profit. That doesn't make it fake. It does mean what stories they cover, and how they cover them. Is it a lone gunman, or a terrorist attack? Do they cover the dancing puppy that amazed locals, or the genocide thousands of miles away?

Now, if the limit for "fake news" is it doesn't cover everything that happens, then yes, all news is "fake news".

if it's something you don't want to believe in .. then it's fake..

so pretty much anything can be fake..

and this is how people tend to stick to their own little group and will block out the voice of the opposition..

each side with their own echo chamber

Looks like I have to go into this a little deeper. Down the hole I go.

Their is no other sides to facts.. you have the facts, then you have a agenda.. If your adjusting the facts to push a agenda then it is fake news.

what is news, it is the reporting of what happen, the facts, allowing the viewer to come up with his own ideals. Basically if you have to manipulate the information or add insight to the information. You have just left the plain of News and entered into agenda pushing aka Fake news. Their is news what happen the facts. Then their is fake news speculations, false claims, no backing to story, agenda pushing.

Again, there is interpretation of facts. Take the "Carrier Jobs" thing. You are familiar with that right? One of Trump's first actions was to make a deal with Carrier.

The right can look at this and report it as "Trump saves 1000 jobs by making a deal with Carrier". Thats how they can interpret this news.
The left can look at this and report it as "Trump gives Carrier a tax break for eliminating jobs". Thats how they can interpret this news.

Both are factual statements. They just exist as different interpretations of the data. Whether the Carrier deal was a good thing (saving jobs) or a bad thing (going easy on those cutting jobs) depends on your perspective. Nothing there is fake.

Also, nothing about news requires it to be facts only. Interpretation is a huge part of why people take in the news instead of reading press releases. It helps contextualize things and bring in outside information, keeping people better informed than if something existed only as facts.

I am not surprised. You would think false news would be grounds for a loss of audience, but no. People want to hear what they want to hear. News are just environments for echo chambers at this point. At this point, there is an extremely large market for false news than there ever was.

People have grown accustomed to their safe space, and I am not just talking left wingers too, who are quite guilty. I am talking about fucking everyone.

When certain people demand true news, they often mean false news that caters to their own bias. In certain cases, this is slight, but for many, if not the majority, this demand is for an overwhelming political slant that will at times outright lie for views, or their viewers.

We are fucking doomed.

It is far healthier to listen to idiocy than inaccuracy. Especially to things one might find stupid.

The Amazing Atheist isn't really a source worth taking seriously. But regardless, the idea of being none bias doesn't exist. That's just a objective fact as long as humans with our way of thinking exist!

We can always strive to become as little bias as possible, but in the end it's a impossible task to take on as humans are shaped by their environment, friends, family, surroundings and etc who all shape a foundation of who you are and you're opinions regarding certain topics. So the only way to get as close to a unbias truth is to get news from multiple sources, but that still won't help because you as a human will still interpretate what you read off these multiple sources into your own bias. So go out and debate with people of the other block and get your opinions challenged. It's really the only and best way to go about something

The point is it is up to the views to place their own bias on said evidence, a reporters job is only to report the news, aka what is going down, not adding their own spin on it.

so if a cat is stuck in the tree, that is what the reporter should be reporting, not that the cat is stuck in a tree, because they believe some crazy kids scared it up there (based on no evidence of that happening.) it is up to those viewing the news to place their own opinion on why.. not the media, and not the reporters.

It would be great if they only told what happened and didn't try to change anything to suit their political beliefs. But that would be impossible considering most big news topics has some form of base in politics and what the journalists think is right and wrong. And even if that wasn't the case then the publication they work for (like the wsj) might have a political belief of their own that gets forced upon their writers, so they only write/cover topics that aligns with the publication's political views.

No it's not ok to have a public "shame" champagne like WSJ and the rest of the media did to Pewdiepie without basis in fact and that wasn't journalism or news reporting.

Thats just your opinion, and even still, that doesn't make anything fake news.
