I was thinking about just carrying Gold Coins (the one dollar) instead of carrying cash, Green papers just for a while till I get tired of carrying them.. Well I do have Credit Card I guess I can use that and still carry Gold coins and not use Cash, green papers for a while.

Instead of putting them all in my pocket, I'll be carrying old fashion Coins Pouch!!! :p

This is one dollar Gold Coins I believed. I got lot of regular coins will exchange them for all one dollar Gold coins. So should be at least 36.00, so that 36 Gold coins! :p

Will get more, I'm getting 50 Coins Pouch for only 5.00. Am thinking about putting 100 penny in one coins pouch and give it to my sisters as a joke. It'll be like living in the past, can throw some coins around to people! :p So I'm not worrying about wasting Coins Pouch!

Anyway, I'll try to see how many gold coins I can fitted in one Coins Pouch.

Yes I'll be going to stores and buy things with Gold coins, they have to take it since its money. I used it in the past and they took it.

I guess I've been watching too many Tv Series back in 1800, where they only use coins. What you guys/ladies think? If you're working at food place or at stores and someone pull out a coins pouch and counted Gold coins and than give them to you.. How will you reacted? :p

Why not just use Gold Coins for a while and stop using the Green paper bills to see how it goes! :p It'll be fun. Come on you all want to do it... Right?

We need to have them make 5 dollar, 10, 20, 50, 100 dollar coins! For those who wish to only carry coins, while other prefer carrying Cash (Green paper) XD.

With coins, You'll consider richest man in the world! The ladies will love you forever! It harder to lose them due to Coins Pouch! :p The dollar bills they're tearable, people tried to make copy of them! -_-; Also you can easily lose them!

I vote for coins!

They wouldn't really be gold coins, anyways. 1oz of gold worth +1000 1$ coins. Using Silver for small denominations like 1USD is best.

Right now, I don't think it will work. That's because according to the chart, at the bottom of the chart, the "Total - U.S. Government Gold Reserve" we have is about $11,041,059,957.46 of gold, as of January 31, 2017. That's just over 11 billion dollars worth of gold.

https://www.fiscal.treasury.gov/fsreports/rpt/goldRpt/current_report.htm

However, the total national debt is about 19,926,581,166,878.36. That's almost 20 trillion dollars of debt.

https://www.treasurydirect.gov/NP/debt/current

That is 1,804. 77 times more debt to gold. That is the amount of national debt is 1,804.77 times more than the amount of gold our government has.

If we went back to using gold, we'd instantly go bankrupt and get destroyed. LOL

We have to pay down that debt, first. Pay it all the way down to where we owe less than how much gold we have. Then we can talk about going back to the gold standard.

By the way, this debt is how the big banks keep so much power over the government and over people, not just in the U.S., but around the world.

Are they still distributing them? I lost track of the Sacajaweas after they started the "Presidential coin" set, and that was back in the 00's.

I love the idea (unlike the UK Pound, the US is one of the few first-world countries that doesn't have a coin for the basic "dollar" unit), but nobody else seems to like them, particularly FOR the "heavy pouch of gold coins" idea.

Not that I expect Biggus would know about that over there wherever he is, but it's a favorite lost cause of mine to support.
Everyone else keeps bringing up the ghost of that failed Susan B. Anthony dollar from the 70's, which not only looked too much like a quarter, but Susan looked too much like George Washington.

Can you go one hour without some tinfoil hat worthy conspiracy mate. It's not the central banks fault idiots decided borrowing way more money then they could ever pay back was a good idea.

You know for shits and giggles once I carried 400 dollars worth in change. Change made of steel, copper, and nickle which are all a hell of lot lighter then gold. That 400 dollars in change weighed a goddamn ton. That is not something I want to be carrying around on a daily basis.

Also everyone knows digital currency is the wave of the future.

Originally, dollar coins were floated (with a few Congressional concessions to the mining states) as easier for vending machines and bus/subway transit...For everyone who's never been able to get one of those paper bills through on the first try.
Unfortunately, both generally switched to card slots later, after their costs shot up past $1.00.

(Still, that's no slam against coin or bill: The current Libertarian smoochfest is "Maybe we should make physical currency obsolete in the next decade, Sweden is doing it!"
Uh, getting Americans not to love money, OTOH... )

Oh, and if you're a fantasy/dragon/Scrooge McDuck fan, you love the gold Sacajaweas with a passion the old Susan B. Anthonys could never ignite.
