I love manga!!! But I haven't messed with CR's online manga reader in 6 month, and I don't have a smartphone, so I read all manga elsewhere.

All I can say to describe why I hate it is that you can NEVER TELL WHERE YOU ARE, OR HOW TO GET TO THE NEXT PLACE. When reading in a "volume" it's hard to make it show how many chapters there are in that volume, and sometimes I can't even manage to move from one to the other easily.

When am I through with the volume I'm in? That is never clear because the number of chapters therein is never shown in summary, but only as a series of things to click on for each chapter.

Moving to the "Simulpub" part of the presentation is again fraught with uncertainty as to how many chapters there are.

And then there is the continuously resetting viewing format.

KEEP THE PROCEEDING DIRECTION BEING FROM RIGHT TO LEFT. That's how the Japanese do it, so and how all nearly scanlation sites do it.

Some of those difficulties may be because I'm clumsy or impatient.

The only issue i have with the app is the inability to bookmark specific pages rather then at the begining of a new chapter.

Really? I use the iOS version of the manga app, and I can bookmark any page I want. Actually, I wish the app automatically resumes to the page I last read, even after I switch to read another manga, so that I don't need to use bookmarks at all.

I just wish it loaded first to last. Plus obvious bug fixes.

I agree, I don't remember what chapter number I left off on so I have to guess, it's a pain.

Also if I remember correctly it doesn't stay fullscreen when you skip chapters.

I understand CR is first and foremost an anime service, but if they have a manga section then it should at least get SOME love and attention. Instead, it has gotten none even as people complain and complain....

The reader itself just plain sucks. It is slow and clunky and ugly. Not being able to stay fullscreen between chapters sucks, but not even being able to bookmark is just plain ridiculous. I am guessing that they think the browser version of the manga section is just not popular enough to devote any resources to.

But even moreso than the reader being a pos, the issues with the chapters themselves just make things that much worse. I swear, every chapter has at least one typo somewhere and half the chapters are not even aligned properly so many times double pages are split the wrong way. This is thrown together worse than any scanlation website I have ever seen and I have been reading scanlations for 17 years. And these people are PAID to run this site. It was just hastily thrown together and nobody cares. That is what's most upsetting.

But even moreso THAN THAT....... are other issues as well. Like I have to write their support now because I was just about to catch up on Investor Z and what do I find? Chapters 169 and 170 ARE THE EXACT. SAME. CHAPTER. How did no one notice this? HOW. I cannot even fathom this. This kind of poor work would not even fly when I was doing typesetting for scanlations FOR FREE 10 years ago. How is it acceptable for a PROFESSIONAL company?

I really just cannot even. This is beyond any logic.

I was just reading the current Attack on Titan chapter, and the three double page spreads are backwards. How do you let that happen?

It'd be nice to know when new chapters of GTO are up. That's all I use the reader for anyway.

I'm ok with CR's Manga reader. The only thing I'd like it to add, would be to enter the titles I'm following and it would either Email me or use the notification section to let me know when the titles I follow has an updated Chapter.

On everyone who says they can't remember where they left off, I am guessing on the PC, you are aware that the chapters change color in the drop down as you read through them. Yeah it means that you have to click into an issue first but I always thought it was a bit hidden but still fine to find where you left off.

On what I actually have a problem with, it would be that in the android app you cannot always view all the pages of an issue. There is this weird bug that I can't pin down that will dupe a page over the next one and there is no way, to my knowledge, to read that page. I can just log into the website and read the entire thing without an issue there but it is still a pain that in random issues I just get page dupes and need to switch to desktop to read the missing page.

The "love and attention" (http://www.crunchyroll.com/lineup/manga) CR shows their manga section has been clear for years, but that there isn't even a manga queue like there is for anime is a particular pain resulting from this neglect. The only real way I've found to know when new chapters of a manga I'm reading get released is "just check constantly." I've no hope of the reader itself being improved anytime soon, either. Many of the frustrations and suggestions posted in this thread were also posted on these forums the same day the manga reader launched. CR thanked them for the feedback and has proceeded to implement none of it. In fact, it seems entirely unchanged from day one. New manga titles rarely get added, the manga reader doesn't change, the manga section doesn't ever seem to get new features to bring it some more parity with the anime section. It's hard to have any optimism when years of experience demonstrate that there's no reason to.

Realistically, I'd sooner expect them to discontinue offering manga than to improve the reader.

So far I have been happy reading manga on crunchyroll. I have always used the Beta reader. I cannot put the Beta Reader to full screen since the navigation bar would take too much space and prevent me from reading the text in the manga. Since the whole page does not fit to my screen resolution, I scroll the browser on each page.

When I come back to read a manga that has been continued, I might need to browse different chapters in different volumes to see which ones start from the end page. I believe it would make sense to add this information to the page where the chapters are browsed.

The main issue is of course the small quantity of different manga series. This should gradually change, if the copyright deals are not time-limited.

So I just tried to read some manga on my computer and there was one thing that REALLY irritated me.
When you click on a manga from the selection, it takes you to the page where you can select individual volumes, however at the top there is the simulpub "volume", which is opened by default. Now this is really dangerous spoiler-wise, since it showed me like the final page of the manga in the preview image of the chapter, clearly visible. Having the simulpub volume closed by default or removing preview images altogether would imo be better.

they should have a bookmark system on the computer version like they do in the manga app. Wait just change the computer manga viewer to resemble the manga app.
