Yeah you could be right. I don't know, I don't really think there are very many anime that would really translate over to live-action very well. I was thinking slice of life, but now that I think about it, that probably wouldn't work very well either.

I wouldn't say that no slice of life shows would work, because they are probably the ones which would transition most smoothly to live action. Just perhaps not Clannad specifically. After all, Clannad is an anime based off of a visual novel, with heavily stylised character models and a supernatural twist. I think more "down to earth" slice of life shows might work. The only hurdles I can see for a general slice of life show is maybe the blushes? (at least with romantically inclined shows). After all, you can't get a real person to blush that hard.

When I made the post, I didn't exactly have slice of life in mind. Well, except for Haruhi, but that would have to be a VERY loose adaptation. For starters, it would be set in the US. Some of the character's ethnicities would have to change, some could be left as Japanese. It all depends.

We're talking about international live action tv series, right? Because japanese live action stuff really sucks 90% of the time Sometimes anime should stay anime and Japan does not do pretty well when it comes to making anime into live action. It is still beyond me why they even try to make a live action of Fullmetal Alchemist.... No, just no.
I'd be interested in seeing a German/American/whatever live action version of Naoki Urasawa's Monster tho, that'd be dope as hell if you ask me.

None. Okay maybe not none, but most shouldn't be. I imagine Monster could be made into something really good, but then again, Monster is already really good, so there's no need.

I gotta agree with you. I haven't seen a live action anime/manga adaptation I've loved yet. Rurouni Kenshin was okay. I tried watching Assassination Classroom, Lupin 3rd, Attack on Titan, Parasyte, Space Brothers and a few others. They're all bad.

And like you said Monster seems like it would be a great candidate, but why? The anime is already so damn good.

I actually meant American live action TV series. I was thinking along the lines of adapting something like Baccano, Hellsing, FMA, or Black Lagoon. Maybe even Durarara in some way.

There are quite a few anime/manga that were turned into Korean Dramas that are amazing.

For one, Hana Yori Dango (Boys Over Flowers) was amazing. There is also City Hunter, which is a masterpiece.

I don't know exactly why but I wouldn't mind seeing Gintama as a live action show.

I explicitly stated AMERICAN live action shows. Gintama has samurais and takes place in an alternate Edo period. It's too ingrained in the Japanese culture.

I thought that a unique comedy like Gintama would be a breath of fresh air in a category filled with sitcoms, but I see your point. In that case maybe K. I think it would fit well in American live action shows. It is not so setting based that they need to be in a specific location or time frame. The show is also very good. If not K then a cool space show like Space Dandy or Cowboy Bebop. If done correctly, they wouldn't have a hard time finding the audience. I think either of these options would be awesome. That's just my opinion though.

91 Days would probably be a really easy to adapt for western audiences in live-action, so I'd probably suggest that. I'd probably agree with Baccano and Black Lagoon as well, considering they aren't set in Japan.

I saw Hellsing mentioned, but I'd have to disagree with that one. I know at least for me, part of the appeal of that show (specifically in regards to Ultimate) is its over-the-top animation style, which would probably be very difficult to bring into live-action.

I would also agree with shows like Durarara, Psycho-Pass, and K as getting alternate setting adaptations. I think K could work really well, as I think there's a lot they could do with it that wasn't done in the anime; for example, I think it's safe to say that even with the 'Seven Stories' season, we'll never get to see all seven kings clash with each other.

My opinion on making live action films from anime is that there shouldn't be any. Live action remakes of animated films are all terrible.

Some things would end up being too trashy imo. Just take the new Ghost in the movie. I hardly believe that this is going to be a major hit at the box office. And boy do I wonder how the Netflix version of Death Note will turn out.
With Monster I can imagine with the right cast they can make something good out of it. They probably would change the characters nationalities to American tho

I explicitly stated live action TV series. It's in the title, and I say it many times in my post and subsequent replies to others.

Hmm. I think pretty much any anime that wouldn't require serious costuming and special effects (I mean like more than Game of Thrones) could make a great live action drama with the right direction. One that isn't too Japanese would probably transition best as well. I would love to see Black Lagoon, Psycho-Pass, Monster, Durarara, and whatever else was said before. Personally, I really want someone to adapt Shinsekai Yori. I think has a similar vibe to Stranger Things, with the psychic powers, youthful discovery, government plot, and such. I think if Texhnolyze was done it could be better than the anime.
