this is just like the WII U when you think about it guys

Not even close to being the same. The WiiU has a gamepad. The Switch itself is the actual console which goes with you.

I saw a few people on Kotaku making a big stink over the fact that the Virtual Console won't be available at launch. Does that really matter directly, and/or represent a false start?

I'd rather them delay it and bring gamecube games with it. That's honestly why I think they are delaying it.

What do you mean they both go with you? The tablet itself is the console. That's all you need. You dock the console to play it on the TV. You undock it to take it with you, it's seemless you can play it on the TV or on the go, but when you take it on the go there's a battery, so eventually it's going to run out of battery. There is no tablet and console like the Wii U. There is only the tablet itself cause it is the console.

Seems like the press just got 1-2 Switch as of yesterday, or at least were allowed to show that they had it.

Well, my card was charged today and my pre-order is set to arrive on time (March 3rd). Took Friday off, which is pretty normal since I always take a day off for a console launch.

Just managed to grab a pre-order off Best Buy around 20-30 minutes ago. Pre-ordered Breath of the Wild off Amazon too and managed to get the name 'Hallucination' for my Nintendo User ID. I unfortunately didn't know about being able to set a user id until a few minutes ago so all the names I wanted were already taken but I'm happy with the name I got either way.

To simplify:

Wii-U: The "tablet" (controller) is docked to the console and you have to be within communication range of the console in order to play it. Meaning you cannot take it in the car with you while you're riding for a long-haul trip or take it on an airplane and play games. You can turn the television off and play the same game that you had in the console while you're sitting on the sofa.

Switch: The tablet is the console. Meaning, this is pretty much what the Wii-U should have been. You can take it with you anywhere you go, recharge its battery on the go, switch out games that are in your library wherever you are... things like that. To play on the television, you simply dock it into a cradle that's connected to the television through HDMI.

I hope this explains the difference between the two.

Anyone planning on venturing forth at the midnight launch? I'm considering going to mine but I dunno if it's worth it honestly.

Unfortunately my GameStop is in a dying mall and that's where I preordered and are not doing a midnight release but I'll be there early waiting for the mall to open first thing in the morning to pick up my preorder and to see if they have extras cause I talked to the guy and they have a couple and I'm going to get my girlfriend one too.

Getting anxious. Amazon hasn't changed my card for my order yet. But they typically don't charge you until the items are ready to ship, and we still got two days. But for them to deliver on Friday, they'll need to ship by midnight tonight.

I guess if I get no confirmation by Thursday afternoon, I'll see what midnight options there are for me locally.

Wait until Thursday morning -- call around about Midnight releases to be on the safe side, though. Amazon has shipped most "release date consoles" to me on the day before through "next day air" versus two-day shipping (with Prime). Just be prepared to stand out in line for 5-7 hours, depending on how many are available.
