This was my loot.

Just curious as to what kinda crowds you saw while camping?

I woke up at 2am myself to check status of my order in case I felt like camping myself, but Amazon finally shipped my order late last night, which really got my anxiety up. It's actually on the truck right now, so it should be here "soon".

Well, I was originally planning on camping the midnight release at either GameStop or Best Buy. However...

GameStop (local) only received 10 extra "Switch" consoles outside of their pre-orders. Six people had literally camped there since 3 AM yesterday morning. The other four appeared before 2 PM. The other GameStop (slightly further away) only had 8 extras and they were all spoken for (the first person got there at 11 AM yesterday).

Best Buy had a line of 150-200 people. They only had 100 available in-store.

Target - when I got there at 2 AM - there were about 8 people ahead of me. By the time the store opened at 7 AM, there were around 15-20. Target received 6 with neon Joycons and 38 with standard gray Joycons.

All-in-all, I think it was pretty much a successful launch for Nintendo.

Do you think the Switch is worth $300 + Zelda at $60 right now, or would you say wait a bit?

Anyone having trouble connecting their Switch to wifi? Mine refuses to connect to anything.

This really depends. Personally, I was more (yeah, I know) hyped over Bomberman than Zelda. I'm currently not dissatisfied with either game. Unfortunately, I'm too damn tired to play seriously today (work + play .. my multitasking skills are kaput due to the waiting to get one).

I'm not. I was able to connect to both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks I have in the house.

My local GameStop opened at 10. Got there at 7:45, waited til 8 when the mall opened, ended up 2nd in line cause they opened another entrance first and someone got there before me but I ended up getting the first 1 cause I had my stuff paid off.

Got the neon switch with the pro controller and I digitally got almost every game that is on the eshop right now.

Weird, I'll have to take mine to work and try to connect there and see if the update will fix my phantom wifi problems.

edit: well it connected to my work wifi, bizarre

Guess I should count myself lucky:

Hopefully this is just a logistics screwup on Nintendo's part, and not a repeat of the NES Classic (which is STILL impossible to find at MSRP)

That's me. Amazon never sent me an email saying my order shipped. Yesterday night and the majority of today the order page just listed it as "shipping soon" with delivery of sometime before 8pm. 7pm comes around and I finally get an email that my Switch has shipped, but now it's not arriving till tomorrow sometime before 8pm. And I placed my pre-order on Amazon within the first hour of them going up during the Switch presentation in Jan.

At this point, I would just avoid pre-ordering pretty much anything via Amazon. It seems that with every fairly major release lately there are stories about their orders being screwed up in some way.

Best of luck to those who are still waiting though! Hopefully fortune smiles upon you sooner than later.

I am completely regret getting the Switch. I feel like I should have just ordered the new Zelda game for the Wii U.

Why so? So far, I find it brilliant (ease of switching from television to handheld mode to multiplayer with the two joycons). I think it's pretty much what the Wii-U should have been when it first came out but the technology just wasn't there yet.

This is the exact situation I found myself in for my Deluxe Edition of Final Fantasy XV. All day they had gone from "Preparing for Shipment" to "Shipping Soon" (several times). I got it four days later (from Amazon). Of course, I said to hell with it and bought FFXV Deluxe Edition from Target and sent back the one I got from Amazon. Amazon reps had first told me that it's on-time to be delivered by the end of the day, then it proceeded to "we're out of stock on this item and will get it to you as soon as we can" .. and finally, "Oh, it's USPS' fault that it didn't get to you on time so we're still charging you full price unless you return it".

Long story short, you probably won't get your Switch from Amazon until they get another batch in stock. Pre-orders mean next to nothing for Amazon - they'll cancel them when they choose (with or without the game/console failing), they'll not always get it to you on the release date, and you're stuck with the high probability of simply not getting anything. I will say that my PS4 Pro was delivered a day before release date - but it wasn't a "large console release".

Why not expand on that and state specifics that you're unhappy with?

For me, I had my Switch set up and ready to play in like 15 minutes. That included linking my Nintendo Account to the Switch and importing my Wii U Mii to the Switch (via an amiibo). At that time, I only had one game, 1-2 Switch, so I didn't really play with the system too much yesterday. Playing a two-player game with yourself is kinda lewd (yes that's a joke).

Today, I picked up Zelda and played it for about two hours. No issues there. The main issue I'm seeing from news is people are having troubles with the Joy-Cons either de-syncing or just not working, but Nintendo seems to think that is wireless interference. If so. I'm not sure it's every system. I have my Switch next to my Amazon Alexa Dot, sitting in front of my TV. I'm using 2.4ghz exclusively for reasons I don't wanna discuss, but I got strong wifi signal all around my house.

I got the system from Best Buy, but ordered elsewhere for the games as a preorder over a month ago. I got the system 12:01am from Best Buy without any issues, but Amazon did not deliver the games yesterday (Amazon has a preorder game discount).

I figured, fine I will explore the system and do other things while I wait an extra day. The problem is that there is nothing you can do with them system besides game. There are no streaming apps, no web browser, no apps, no demos in the eShop, nothing at all.

So, I ended up getting extremely aggravated. I ended up getting sicker (was already sick) from going out to get the system and ended up in bed all day yesterday, and got to stare at the console all day without being able to do anything with it. I also ended up spending $40 in gas a a ton of travel time because the store was so far away from me (2 hours). Although, it was my stupidity for using Amazon for the games and not getting them with the system when I picked it up. I did save some money, but feel like maybe it was not worth it.

I felt like I should have gotten the Wii U version of the Zelda game, since I use my Wii U for streaming duties and gaming as well. I was a bit meh about charging a few hundred dollars right now, as I wanted to also get some stuff for my motorcycle.

Right now, there is no virtual console. There is no trophy system. There is no social media. There are no streamin apps. There are no apps of any kind.

I contacted Amazon, they contacted the shipping company, and found out the driver never went to my house, and marked my packages as delivered and went back early to the warehouse. They have a driver bringing it out today, and Amazon gave me a really nice credit for bringing it to their attention and I got a 200GB SD Card with a nice amount bumped off.

Luckily that was not the case. I didn't think it would be as last night there was finally proper tracking information when it stated a delivery for today, but I finally got my Switch. I hadn't seen one in person before so it's smaller than I expected it to be. Will have to try out Zelda a bit later today.
