I saw this up for preorder on CR

...and it's pretty expensive too.

I dunno. Maybe I just find stuff funny that no one else in the world finds funny, but I think this is hilarious.

Nope, dying again and again in front of a TV set or a computer screen just aren't enough for some people. They can't pass up a chance of doing so, again and again, in front of a tabletop.

Something about that makes me LOL.

Speak for yourself noob I only died five times in Dark Souls. I bet with that experience I can do awesome in the board game.

Also a 108 bucks for a well built board game is kinda cheap. Add to that the likely insane licensing fees since the Dark Souls series isn't some outdated game like Sonic and is popular as hell with the gaming crowd it's no wonder it costs a 100+ dollars.

Nope I speak for the people who play the game and wail about it on various tech sites.

yeah Dark Souls is only "OMG teh Hardest thing evur" when you're new to it. Once you know how the games work they become much easier.

This was really made apparent to me in DSIII when I fought Iudex Gundyr and curbstomped him. I realized, this was 3's asylum demon, trouble is I'd already killed the Asylum Demon. I'd also killed Ornstein and Smough, Sinh the Slumbering Dragon, Fume Knight, Ludwig the Holy Blade and the Orphan of Kos. When you actually have experience with the games they're not overwhelming at all. And really Soulsborne's hype exaggerates the fact that the games aren't made with the express purpose of being overly difficult.

Effectively they just tore the training wheels off your bike before giving it to you and told you to figure out how to ride it yourself. Once you do, you can manage alright.

Ya think they'd learn trying the same approach 30 times in a row and dying 30 times in a row is a clear cut signal that maybe you should try something new. I can't count the amount of times I had to explain that to other players of Dark Souls. And they seem very under appreciative of me invading their games and slaughtering them in a show of how things are suppose to be done.

No it isn't it, it's a game with clear cut attack and defence patterns by it's npcs, bosses, and mobs. If you can't recognise a clear cut pattern when you see it why are you playing a game that relies on pattern recognition ?

With so many games around, people should just move on to something else if they don't find something of their particular taste.

If something like that happens to me, I'd just move to something else in my endless backlog. The time spent raging would be better spent on another game.

I...um...can. Which is probably why they're some of my favorite games of all time. I mean I've got a freaking Lady Maria avatar, I'm something of a fanboy. Souls does not nor has it ever held a player's hand, that's all I'm saying here. It wants you to figure out how to play the game yourself, once you acclimate yourself it isn't this unimaginably hard monstrosity that some people make it out to be. Like you said, you have to know how enemies work, know when to dodge, block, which windows are safe to attack in. It's reputation for difficulty mostly comes from the fact that it won't bend over backwards to help a player if they mess up. Which is something a lot of people aren't used to.

If you cleared it with only five deaths, well, congratulations, you're obviously better at the game than I am. I do fine mostly, and most of my deaths are typically down to one or two bosses like Pontiff Sulyvahn or the Twin Princes (I won't lie I spent two days trying desperately to kill the Orphan of Kos). If you're going to argue the game isn't that difficult, well I'm not going to deny you. People have different experiences and such, and this isn't really something I want to fight about. We seem to mostly disagree on a matter of degree rather than type. Quibbling over whether the game only seems hard because people aren't used to it, or because it was never hard at all seems like splitting hairs.

But can you SL1 every souls game yet? That's the true question here. But yeah, I hardly ever die in Easy Souls, unless it's like an SL1 Calamity ring NG+ run or in I die in PvP lol.

I disagree with the price on this board game though, do you really consider this a good deal?

That's what I hate about souls your forced to defend and parry if you want to win.

I have only actually bothered doing that with the first and second one. Haven't actually done it with the third to be honest, might give it shot one day when I am done with For Honour

As for the price point it's not so much that I think it's a good deal as I understand the motivation behind the pricing. Some people hardcore collect anything even remotely related to their favourite game. It's a demanding enough market that deluxe editions, figurines, clothes, jewellery, back packs, and even board games can sell well at somewhat inflated prices.

I am completion junkie so I can understand wanting to 100% something before moving on.
