I'm looking for some new bands in the metal genre; and, I'd like some insight from the community. I'm no stranger to metal itself; and, I'm a huge fan of Ingested, Black Tongue, Malevolent Creation, Oceano, et cetera. Ideally, I'd like to be recommended more underground bands than anything else; but, any recommendations at all are welcome.

Lol, I'm a metal fan and I haven't heard of those bands. I clicked on this forum to get some insight to listen to some potentially new metal music. Here's what I listen to(no hate pls, i don't care if you don't like it or don't consider it metal.)

I was super into classic rock until I heard Avenged Sevenfold, they transitioned me into my metal phase. So here are some of my favorite metal bands:
Avenged Sevenfold
Atreyu
All That Remains
Motionless in White
Parkway Drive
The Amity Affliction
The Ghost Inside
Stone Sour(Couple songs)
Disturbed(very generic i know, but they have like 3 good songs)
and Iron Maiden

Let me know what you like/don't like/haven't heard of:)

I've heard of all of those bands; and, I like all of them to an extent. In my opinion, I wouldn't categorize the bands you've provided in the metal genre. Instead, I'd say they're all hard rock or something akin to that. The bands I initially provided are guttural to say the least. Really, I only find them appealing because of their instrumentals; and, they appeal to my impression of the metal aesthetic. I'm kind of engrossed in the "inaudible" portion of the metal genre, lol. Well, thank you for making a post. I appreciate it.

Yeah I see what you mean by 'inaudible' but I liked what I've listened to so far of your stuff. I definitely like the cleaner stuff more though. I think I just haven't been into this genre long enough to have heard about the inaudible stuff, but if you want underground listen to godspeed and some noise music. You might like noise, and godspeed has some audibly beautiful albums.

Also, the only hard rock band I'd say in there is Avenged, and even Avenged who has vowed never to scream again has some pretty inaudible death screamo in waking the fallen. I don't like the new ATR, only the fall of remains and this darkened heart so I would call ATR metal. And on the record of Motionless in White, they have pretty inaudible death music, just inaudible in a very different way than what you're talking about lol.
I respect your opinion and what you like, I'm glad you don't have a negative attitude towards my opinions like some others.

You're a cool dude with a cool music selection:) Since you seem to know what I like pretty well(I also like it mostly for the instrumentals, especially a7x, I like Motionless for the singing) could you give me some recommendations? Some bands I just don't like are:
Five Finger Death Punch
Korn
Killswitch Engage
Bullet for my Valentine
Cannibal Corpse/Rings of Saturn/Acrania

Listen to Thy Art is Murder, they're incredible if you like bands like Black Tongue or Chelsea Grin.

You seem to be into the deathcore genre quite heavily, maybe old Veil of Maya or Rings of Saturn? Those are some great bands. Also, Born of Osiris' The Discovery album would be a good bet.

I've never been much of an elitist when it comes to music. So, I tend to very receptive and welcoming when it comes to a person's opinion. Since you liked the bands I mentioned earlier, I urge you to check out Delusions of Grandeur, Abiotic, KING CONQUER, and Upon a Burning Body. I'd like to offer more in the way of recommendations but not too many bands come to mind. You should check out metal playlists that people have created on Youtube and see if you enjoy anything. I will also recommend Shokran to you, which is a band with some amazing instrumentals. I recommend Shokran's "Supreme Truth" album, which is streamable via Youtube. I think you'll enjoy it!

I really like Thy Art is Murder, and Born of Osiris. Personally, I wasn't too much of a fan of Rings of Saturn. I haven't heard of Veil of Maya, however. I'll check it out on Youtube, thanks. Yes, deathcore is an amazing genere and I treasure it dearly. You ought to check out Shokran, I think you'd like their music. Although I must recommend their "Supreme Truth" album above all. Based on what you listed in the original post as bands that you are a fan of, I am assuming you're looking for suggestions more towards the death metal/black metal genre than the mainstream hard rock that people have been suggesting so far. Hopefully some of these help out and fit what you're looking for.

Architects
Born of Osiris
Caliban
Carnifex
Chronolyth
Deafheaven
Emmure
Heaven Shall Burn
Iconoclast
Kataklysm
Lord of War
Rivers of Nihl
Rotting Christ
She Must Burn
Shotgun Surgeon
Veil of Maya
Voynich Code

I'm familiar with Shokran! They're a Russian band no? I have exchanged some words with the guitarist here and there via social media before. They're great. Also, check out The Faceless.

Yes, they are indeed Russian. I liked the Egyptian mythology on the Supreme Truth album, there being Anubis and all. I'll definitely check that out mate. I also found a badass instrumental band called Shades of Black! Check out their album called Ocean. It's simply phenomenal.

Exist is a song about the creation of the universe, it was inspired by the big bang. Almost 16 minute song but it is orchestrated beautifully and has an amazing closure by neil degrasse tyson. Man, if you smoke bud, listen to exist and close your eyes and you'll go on an adventure. If not, just listen to the song it's great anyways:)
BTW, so far Sands of Time is my fav song I've heard from these so far.

To be honest, I've never really listed to their music. I'll check it out as soon as possible. Have you heard of Cattle Decapitation? If not, I urge you to give them a listen. I'm willing to bet that you'll like them.

I don't really keep tabs on all of metal genres myself, so you're not the only one. I'm a simple person in the way that I view metal as just metal, and not much more than that. I can see why there are so many metal genres, however. I mean, it's really very diverse and there are many bands with mere subtle differences that set them apart while still being metal all together. I also just like music for what it is, and I'm not too keen on classifying bands themselves. In any case, if you also like instrumental metal (no vocals) I highly recommend that you check out Shades of Black and their album Ocean.
