Kemono Friends.

Agreed.

Though I really dislike the animation and almost dropped it after the first episode, the little mysteries behind it have had me coming back for more. Not the best show, but surprisingly enjoyable.

I'm not sure if anything else I've been watching and enjoying would be considered a hidden gem...

To be fair, this is only a US thing. Outside of the US, we can just ride off a Prime membership. Said membership is still extortionate, but it's better than you guys have. So I'm not sure that it's going unnoticed entirely because of this.

Scum's Wish is definitely the one I'd back (if we consider it "hidden", being the 4th most popular anime on MAL... though Maid Dragon is quite low on the list and that's everywhere). As already stated, the psychological aspects are really interesting, particularly from Hana's perspective IMO. I feel like it's kinda dipped a little with the last episode, but I'm hoping that's a one-off issue.

Believe me, if Amazon's subscription was cheaper I'd definitely would sign up. Even without the additional $5/month I still think having to get a $99 Prime membership is just too much, particularly for people who have multiple subscriptions. For me I don't need Prime and I already used my free trial of Prime. It's a shame that I have to wait one more year until Amazon's exclusivity of Noitamina ends or if CR or Funimation obtains home video rights to these shows.

Exclusive rights are okay, for the beginning of their run, but they are downright disgusting if a company holds on to them, and will not let anyone have access to them unless they pay an exorbitant amount and THEN charge them for a second key to something that should have been included in the first place.
Crunchyroll and Funimation are, thankfully, doing things the right way.

I'm obsessed with Acca (I keep posting essays on it in the discussion thread and on tumblr lol)

But it's pretty popular, at least from where I stand.

So I'm going to say Marginal #4. It's an idol show but it's actually really good. It's like The Daily Lives of High School Boys, but they're idols. But it's mostly comedy like that. It's really good comedy, too.
Also, the music and choreography are way better than other idol shows.
And the character designs are really pretty. And the seiyuu are really good, and they're good singers.

So... yeah, it's really good. Please give it a try~

I wasn't expecting to enjoy Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid as much as I am. It really is a funny & charming show.

And I need to catch up with Scum's Wish. Everyone in that show is messed up.

Hidden gem?

they are not hidden.

From the new titles this season , I thought ACCA, Onihei, Kobayashi Dragon Maid, Youjo Senki stood out for me from the begining . These are the titles I looked forward too .And now Fuuka although this one is starting to drive me nuts

For me it would have to be 'Descending Stories: Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinj. I can never find this anime on the page with the popular stuff that opens when you click into Shows, so perhaps only a few people are watching which would qualify it as hidden. That it is a gem is without any doubt, at least for me. I can see where this show would not be everyone's cup of tea but it truly is amazing and sends me on an emotional roller coaster ride each week. On the complete flip side of the spectrum, I think that 'Akiba Strip' is really funny. It kinda reminds me of the very old show 'Otaku no Video'.

I guess they are hidden since they are not on CR :p but mines are Little Witch Academia and Onihei. The not so hidden gems are Akka, Dragon Maid, Gab, and Rakugo

Just like last season, I'm going to pick the shows that I watched this season and with less then 200 post on their CR discussion page. I'll just give mini reasons and a screenshot so I can bring some interest to the series I'm mentioning to someone who's lurking this post.

1.) Urara Meirochou

2.) Little Witch Academia

3.) Nanbaka (again)

4.) ALL OUT!! (again)

That's about it. Majority of anime I watched from this season was pretty well talked about on the forums. I didn't put any sequels (like Yowamushi Pedal) although I'm counting Nanbaka and All Out!! as a two cour instead of being a sequel.

For a final mention, I've heard interesting things about Kemono friends and how it is a sci-fi adventure!

This one has been in my queue for a while. Will check it out.

Grave dig but to add to the discussion, when I think hidden gem as posted on this site, I think it's ok to include shows on this site. It being posted here makes me think stuff here is the whole point. Past that, shows that don't get talked about that much. There's a really amazing show on here called Erin that I pretty much never see mentioned anywhere online. Stuff that isn't regularly talked about in the forums, doesn't get mentioned in articles, and is just quietly humming along being awesome with what feels like nobody being the wiser.

By the way that $99 Prime subscription breaks down to $8.25 per month. So with strike that's 13.25 per month. For comparison crunchyroll is ~$7, Netflix is ~$8, Funimation costs ~$6 and Hulu costs ~$8 (with ads) or ~$12 (no ads).

So if you went for all of them, that would be ~$46 per month, while Direct TV costs $50. Between Hule, Netflix, and Amazon, your normal tv wants are pretty set. So it isn't nearly as bad as it sounds.

Marginal #4.

Magi4 Magi4 Magi4 Magi4 Magi4

It's amazing. Give it a chance, you won't regret it. It's my favorite thing right now, I'm drawing a ton of fanart for it and stuff. I even wrote a fanfic. I never write fanfics.

Just... this show. These boys. They're so wonderful.

It's proof that cute-boys-doing-cute-things shows can be very, very worthwhile.

Also, the music is great. Besides what's in the anime, there's a ton of music from these groups that's been released, and it's actually really good.

Just.... they're so good.

I swear, this is the next big thing. Idol boys are already the thing in Japan. The rest of the world will catch on, just like they did with Love Live. I remember in like 2014 I got back from Japan and went to Anime Boston and there was no Love Live, and I was so confused, but by the end of the year, it was everywhere. Boy idols will be the same, I think. I hope.
Pythagoras and TsukiPro have better music than Love Live. Not the rest, though (EnStars, B Project, etc.)
