Not quite in the right spot...but do any of you know if Crunchyroll is supported on the Roku streaming stick? I'm trying to figure out my best option.

I use a Roku stick and it's worked fine for me.

(I also have a Fire TV stick, and I just tried the new CR app on it--which also works fine even though everything looks giant, and if you have more than 5 things in your queue you have to click "view more" to get a grid view (which I don't like) instead just being able to scroll through the whole queue in a single row.

I hope this means that the kindle fire app will finally be fixed. I can barely get videos to play on it, and I'm not talking about like newly released episodes. It won't play older titles.

Iv'e been waiting for Amazon to acquire Crunchyroll again! It's been far too long to get this, but I'm glad it's back for everyone's anime needs via Amazon Now I can put the Fire stick to more use. >:D

The new FTV app
More logical main menu placement, fixed in place at the top instead of needing to go to a pop-up to get to settings and search.

Settings for autoplay options exists, and are directly accessible within the app

Can select subtitle language directly in settings.

App startup is very much faster than Roku (at least currently).

The matching FTV app for android has voice search and the keyboard entry works

I actually like being able to "see more" in a grid format, once I got used to the idea that you always just do that right away instead of trying to bother with the stripe at all. I agree though that the icons are kind of big. Smaller ones would let you have more on screen at once.

I noticed some strange behavior on the FTV though. Not sure if I can reproduce it. I accidentally hit back while a vid was playing, and instead of restarting where I left off, it went to the beginning. Then, when I was trying to get back to where I left off, a bit at a time, it froze and I had to exit and come back in.

When a video ends, you have to push the back button to go back to the queue where you left off. Roku goes back by itself (but to be fair, there's an intermittent bug where that sometimes doesn't work correctly).

Also, I dislike the main FTV navigation menu compared to Roku, but that is not CR's fault.

Edit: Found a big downer, you can't search for Crunchyroll content at all. There is a search function, but that goes and looks for Amazon content in other apps, it appears. I used voice search to look for "Tanya" to see what would happen, and it took me out of the CR app. When I tried to use the keyboard, by first pressing right to get there, it still didn't find anything, and on top of that, when I went back, none of the stripes had any content associated with them. I had to exit the app to get it back.
TL;DR, no search is available for CR content.

Things I like better with Roku
little preview boxes to see where you are when forwarding through to get to a spot

Searching for titles, or even just words in a title works as opposed to FTV.

The matching Android remote app is more navigable, and I can use headphones for private listening from my tablet so I don't disturb sleeping family late at night (Roku 3 has this built in, but not Roku TV).

Also I can cast video, music and pictures to my TV from my tablet.
Since I have a Roku TV, it is a pain to use the FTV as another dongle, menu selection and additional remote control with it

Overall, I'm kind of torn now. If they would fix the ROKU app idiosyncrasies there wouldn't be any reason for me to use the new FTV, but now I'll probably use them both, depending on which feature I need to use at the time...

Edit again:
Both still have the problem of scrolling through 800 titles alphabetically at most 5 at a time to get to Z. Needs to be broken up to have separate sub-menus for individual letters A-Z. That's a wash, both need improvement there.

Both have the problem on not being able to scroll both directions in a list, left and right when you are at the ends of a stripe (ROKU) or up and down on a grid (FTV) to get to the end.

FTV has an additional delay of having to wait for icons to download and display many times when trying to scroll to the end of the grid. This is maddening, especially in light of there not being a workable in-app search function.

You should be able to add it via the web to your FTV: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004U7BXBO

Ha! I say, ha!

Been looking to figure out how to get CR. Funi is cool but I prefer subbed. Have FireTV but no Roku or AppleTV. So, time to sign up today. As always the devil is in the details and how it works. Any 'gotchas'. But hey, cant complain at all and no problem with giving any time they need to iron out the kinks or improve on whatever needs to be worked on.

Thank you to all the developers and beta testers to get this to work. And, yes to Amazon because I have heard they can be a pita to get apps allowed on their system for it.

Thanks very much for the replies. It helps knowing the bugs for each system, so I know if I can deal with it without losing my sanity!
