I installed the Crunchyroll app almost a week ago on my Roku 2. I can load the app and see all my videos, but, when I hit play, it shows the loading screen, then the retrieving screen for a second or two before going black. I've tried waiting, but the video never loads. I've tried loading videos from at least 4 shows on my list, and they all do this.

I've tried checking my wireless signal, updating my system, restarting my system, removing and reinstalling the app, logging in via the Roku and via my computer, and even hard restarting my system and redownloading everything, but nothing seems to fix it. I tried searching through the forums, but I couldn't find anyone else with this problem.

Are you using an HDMI cable or the three color (RGB) composite plugs? If the latter, that doesn't work anymore, you need a TV with an HDMI port and the config/system settings for the Roku have to be 1080p, even if you don't want to stream that high.

I am using the RGB plugs. That's pretty unfortunate, because I have no problem watching it in any lower resolution, even SD. I don't even know if the Roku 2 or my TV can do HDMI...guess I'll have to look into that. Thanks for clearing that up for me!

It is now March and doesn't seem like the Roku-crunchyroll problem is resolved. Non of my animes are loading. For example, I click Beserk, then click play, and then the retrieving bar shows then blank. The screen is blank or black. I waited 5 to 10 minutes thinking it is just slow, nope, nothing. I have Uninstall education and reinstalled Crunchyroll, I reset the router etc., etc.. Nothing has worked. And I cannot find a place to email Crunchyroll, it keeps sending me to the same contact screen that just refers you to the forums. Very, very annoying! And I am using an HDMI cable.

Why can't a see the season four of Natsume and I can see all other seasons of that show?? It's on my smart tv for the roku app, I did delete the app and reinstalled it again so if anyone has any answers plz let me know

1-3 are under one title page, season 4 is on a separate title page.. as is Season 5 as well

Are you saying you can't find three separate titles for Natsume when you do a search, or in the alphabetical listings?

Or are you just stuck on the promotional video for season 4? Promo videos often, even mostly, don't play on devices, they only work in the web browser.

Seasons 4 and 5 of Natsume Yujin-cho are listed separately from seasons 1-3:

I can see season 5 but not season 4 at all, all it does is retrieving video and I've tried all the other episodes on season 4 and still nothing, so am I doing something wrong?

Not you, it's a bug with Roku TVs... There's another thread here where a staff member is asking for model numbers: /forumtopic-985557/stuck-on-retreiving?pg=2#55975773

A workaround for now is to go to the sister site vrv.co (browser), create a "free" account, then go to the profile and link your CR username account to that. After approximately a day, because it takes a long time for the link to work, you can add the VRV app to your Roku TV and register it. Navigation of the VRV app on the Roku is not the same, and your history isn't kept, but if you want to watch the series, then these are your choices:

Do the VRV thing I mentioned, it's no extra charge.

Wait until they fix the bug, could be a long time...

Or, buy a separate Roku stick or box, my Roku-3 doesn't have the TV problem (or amazon fire stick, or chromecast, etc) and plug that into an HDMI port on your Roku TV.

This all feels suspiciously like Crunchyroll is passive-aggressively trying to get users to switch to the VRV
app by sabotaging the (fairly recently working) Crunchyroll Roku app.

VRV only works in the US,it would be a bad plan.
