I'm a premium+ member curious about what perks will cross over into this vrv membership. I actually participate in the betas here, too. :)
I don't mind paying a higher subscription through vrv to keep this status. I just want to support getting my addiction over the ocean, after all. Just wanted to post my 2¢ here to let you guys know that I'd buy into a higher sub fee if you offered it on vrv for the same perks I'm giving up when I cross over.

What are the chances of their service getting shut down and my subscriptions becoming void?

I'll note on a prior service's end from experience. The origin of VRV reminds me a lot of Jmanga, I don't know the specific origins of each business but they ultimately seem like offshoots of Crunchyroll or more specifically its investors. Jmanga was a good service, but they could only get easy-to-license manga when customers were more interested in big-time manga. Eventually they needed to close down. It was a very graceful end, they made a solid effort to refund all users, and the best outcome was to give everyone Amazon gift cards for the value of their account, which they did. Of course CR has since expanded on manga right here.

The only point I'm getting at is that if the service has to come to an end, I bet it will be very painless. I don't actually think that there's any way for VRV to fully close down, it's backed by Crunchyroll, Funimation, and their investors. The degree of comparable success is yet unknown, but I don't think there's anything to lose (for US customers). (Also don't be misled by my detail about the graceful refunds from Jmanga, there is nothing to refund in a low-cost "all you can eat" streaming service.)

So this may have been answered or posted in the FAQ but I missed it. If I sign up for VRV I get to continue using the crunchy roll app with all my queues still there right?

Also do you get the same benefits with the funimation app/website? There's no VRV app on the Apple TV but if I can use the funimation and crunchy roll apps with the premium functionality then I'm sold on this pricing.

Hello,
I just signed up for VRV and linked my account from Crunchyroll premium. Then I cancelled my premium account with crunchyroll after i bought the combo package. I was billed by Crunchyroll for my subscription a couple of days ago, but VRV is telling me it will bill me the 9.99 on March 3rd. so i will in essence be paying twice for crunchyroll this month. What can i do abaout it?

Right now there's just linking with the CR account, not Funimation or any of the other VRV channels. So if you want to keep using Funimation on AppleTV (and you don't have an iPhone or iPad that you can use AirPlay on to cast to your AppleTV) then you'll need to keep the separate Funimation account.

Also, right now all the Funimation content that is on VRV is just dubbed -- not subbed, even for shows that Funi does have both sub and dub for.

TL;DR answer to "Also do you get the same benefits with the funimation app/website? ": No.

In terms of the CR linking, if you are using the VRV app to watch, then your CR queue doesn't "sync" to anything on VRV, but you can still use it on your CR account. What the linking does mean is that since you paid for VRV premium, you can use the CR apps and watch on the CR website as a premium member, without having to pay separately for a CR premium membership.

Nothing really. My CR sub ends in another week, so I'm waiting until then to switch to VRV.

does linking my CR to VRV make me pay two subscriptions, or am I still just paying the one single premium subscription for CR? And if so then what is the point when I can watch CR on my computer, console, or iOS device already anyways.

I also have this question regarding my queues on my premium membership. I may just wait until the VRV app is available for the Apple TV before I link my account, if I can do that.

The linking makes it so that you don't have pay two subscriptions--but it doesn't automatically prevent you from paying for both. You need to manage that yourself (for example, to save the most money if you decide to join VRV and link it to your CR account, you would first cancel your CR premium and wait for the time you already paid for to end, then sign up for premium on VRV, perhaps choosing the combo pack if you wanted more than CR, and then link it to your CR account. This will result in yiour CR account also being premium again.

Here are a couple reasons people might want VRV instead of a CR subscription.

- Can buy physical gift cards to use on VRV, which means you don't need to use a credit card, and also means that you don't have to worry about getting charged every month. You could just add to your gift balance when needed.

- Can subscribe to other channels (including Funimation) in addition to CR, and with the combo pack for $9.99 month, that saves you money overall (do note however, that the Funi content available on VRV is dub-only).

If the only subscription you want is Crunchyroll, and you're happy with the current payment method you use for Crunchy, and you're happy with the CR apps on the devices you use, then I agree there's no point.

Thanks a bunch for the explanation. Now I just need to figure out how to unlink my CR account from VRV. I deleted my payment methods from it just now. Stupidly signed up without fully realizing that I don't need VRV. Don't anything on the site that shows me how to unlink or delete my account.

It also works fine on my iPad mini (which is somewhat old model) and I've seen others say it works with iPads--though apparently not in horizontal position).

I got all excited until I saw: VRV is only available in the U.S.

So sucks since I was going to sign up straight away, but again the UK is left in the cold

You're not alone in your disappointment, and not only with this feature but also with some of the content, I think I'm not getting the worth of my money because I'm paying the same that a US user is paying , I should be entitled to receive the same content for the same pay, it sucks big time and I am reconsidering my account renewal if I am not going to be treated fairly.
