I was just curious to see if anyone watches Indian films in here? Are they watched in other parts of Asia such as China, Korea, Japan, Taiwan etc.? Ever heard of Shahrukh Khan? That's Madhuri Dixit below

I think it's not popular in Asia since the culture and physical appearances are more different than parts of SE Asia. You usually watch something with characters you can relate to which means people you typically see in your life. We watch American films (although they are not Asian) because the US entertainment industry is by far the biggest in the world. Korea spent like 25 million dollars on a movie and it was record breaking. The US spends on that on normal movies.

And Russell Peters sort of supported the stereotype on Indian movies with the Indian music, hiding behind a tree, bad acting, etc. I didn't say it. An Indian comedian said it. Plus, the fashion and styles in Indian media look different from most images that are popular.

Not sure if it was Indian but that movie with the three sisters and one of them ending up with the white guy was as decent film. I know the main character is a famous Indian actress in India and known in the US.

My sister is an indian movies addict, so, yeah i have seen many indians movies.. probably the old ones since i havent seen an indian movie for more than 2 years..

I dont understand the language , but almost every movie has the same plot.. 2 ppl are in love, bad ppl appear, fighting seen, the hero get hurt but never dies even if he was chopped into peices..lol.. then the hero wins and marry his love.. I like the happy Endings.. although some of the indian movies seem sad but usually the Ending is a happy one .. ^^,

As to to music, cloth, and makeup, they are amazing.. I like the indain traditional outfits, they r very pretty..
however, i noticed that the actress always wears an orange outfit while singing ..
i am not sure what that means .. maybe the director likes that color
Another thing is that, the songs are shoot in the same park for almost every movie..
the park is astonishing, its huge with flowers all around ..

one last thing, i noticed that Bollywood copies hollywood movies alot .. but they add an indian touch which is lovely

Ahhh... I think that film 'Bride & Prejudice' was based on the book 'Pride & Prejudice'... The main actress in that film was Aishwariya Rai or sth like that. If I'm not wrong, she won the Miss World titled in 1994.

I used to watch Indian films when I was a lil kid...& yeah, I know Shah Rukh Khan, Maduri, Karisma, Raveena & all the older generation actors... However, nowadays I don't watch it anymore... I've lost track of all the new actors/actresses entering the bollywood scene... All of them look the same to me nowadays...

Bollywood movies suck.

They're terrible.

They're awful.

It hurts when i watch.

Every time someone makes a bollywood film god kills a puppy...

Indian thriller is hilarious though.... and some Indian chicks look good.

What's Bollywood? "Babe Hollywood", "Budget Hollywood", "Boring Hollywood"?
That's basically the only one I've ever seen though aside from tiny clips and trailers of Indian films over my lifespan. lol. (thank you, Stars international film channel)

I'm assuming the Indian actresses that look westernized or have lighter skin are usually the popular ones. Just the way Asian female celebs are more popular when they get eye surgery and have an universal style. Or even black celebrities are usually more popular if they are light-skinned and have the universal look too. (ie. Vanessa Williams, Tyra Banks, Halle Berry, Alicia Keys, etc.)

Oh do you mean "Bollywood"? I saw an episode on SBS and immediately changed the channel. I don't like it much.
