So basically the series is only available to stream in 480P when it has been released in higher resolutions. Also there is only 12 of the 15 episodes of the series. If it was originally obtained only to those specifications are they trying to provide better quality and completion to the series and others in similar circumstances?

Unfortunately, that appears to be all Aniplex of America seems willing to provide, even to other services. If you are able to check out the series at Hulu, you'll see the same 12 of 15 episodes and 480p resolution. (Hulu doesn't list the resolution, but it obviously isn't HD).

The above poster is correct. The only legal means of watching Bakemonogatari in 720p/1080p is to buy the blu-ray.

Yeah I was pretty annoyed especially by the missing 3 episodes. Those are quite important to the series since they establish an important relationship. I didn't catch that my first time watching the series until I was well into Nisemonogatari, and at that point it was kind of annoying to have to back track.

An update to my message above from 15 days ago:

I discovered there is one legal streaming service that actually has all 15 episodes of Bakemonogatari: Amazon's Anime Strike service.

Now I am curious if perhaps they also have it in HD.

Well, this was my tipping point. I don't know if it is 1080p or not, but it sure seems to be better than 480p, at least...

Edit: Appears to be sourced from the uncensored Blu-Ray.

Edit 2: 1080p more or less confirmed. When I pause, it says HD 1080p at the bottom.

Wow... thanks for the info. I too have been looking for a higher quality legit source. Will definitely check this out.
