Post Reply Headphones/Earbuds Discussion.

Regarding earbuds - I can't do it. I spent too much time as a kid wearing hearing aids (because I was mostly deaf until I got a bit older). This has left me with the feeling of unease when I have something in my ear (like earbuds). So I'm dominantly a headphones kind of guy and a bit of an audiophile.

Gaming Headphones: V-Moda Crossfade Wireless with the "BoomMic" cable.
Open-Ear Headphones (for classical or orchestral music): Sennheiser HD 600
Closed-Ear Headphones (for generic use/walking around): Shure SRH1540 or the V-Moda Crossfade Wireless (depending on my intent)
Gym Headphones: Urbanears Humlan (you can wash the headband and ear cushions without damaging them - makes for amazing gym headphones)
Travel Headphones: Sony MDR-1000X (awesome noise cancellation and decent bluetooth for when you're on a train or running through airports)
Audophile Gear::
  • Amp: Schiit Valhalla 2
  • DAC: Schiit Bitfrost
  • Portable Amp/DAC: V-Moda Vamp Verza

I have a few other headphones that aren't really that great but are quite nerdy (like the Limited Edition Mega Man headphones). But the above list is my most commonly used headphones and gear.

I prefer headphones because I have trouble finding earbuds that are comfortable.

My current pair of headphones are these cat ear headphones. Still looking for some earbuds for when I want to listen to music at work.

Apple earpods for going to school, being in school, basically when I'm not home.

At home though, I use ASTRO A40s for everything else. Great for PC gaming, perfectly fine for music and anime on the laptop.

I use Shure SE215's for listening to music and I love them. I've used Beats, Sennheiser, Sony, and Bose for in-ear phones before and I regret not trying out Shure first, quality is amazing for the price and they're pretty durable. I've had issues with the wiring by the jack becoming frayed with other earphones (Beats especially) and my SE215's have lasted longer than any other pair I've had.

For headphones I haven't experimented much but for gaming I absolutely love Astro A40's. If you're going for audio quality I haven't found another brand that beats Audio technica's M50X but I've heard great things about Sennheiser's momentum 2.0 from multiple friends (haven't personally used them).

I like headphones, but I don't have any good ones. Earbuds and Headphones always break for me.

I currently use

Audio Technica ATM-M50x - excellent come with three different leads with different lengths and sound great
Bose AE 2 - had for years, best thing about these is you can replace the earpads and leads so can renew them when they get worn
AKG 430 - got these on offer for £29 to use with my phone and they do a good job

Cant use earbuds as they are just too uncomfortable

I'm currently using the AKG-K7XX

I really like the AKG sound signature

when I had them the Etymotic er4s were excellent, don't know if they'd quite classify as earbuds though.

I don't like in ear headphones because they hurt but I still use them here and there. I got some bose QC headphones a couple years ago and they are my favorite although I also have Cozyphones that I use to fall asleep at night so I don't break my good headphones.
