Note: All reviews by Blackchain119 are based solely on the anime itself and ignores all related manga; if the story does not hold up in the anime, no matter what length it is, then they failed in their efforts to make an effective, engaging show.

Overview:

This anime had similar elements to many others; the common combination of ecchi, comedy, and vibrant colour to attract the gaze of the audience as a hook to reel you in is no new tactic. In this case, however, the intriguing design of the story and its emotionally tangible atmosphere of brotherhood portrayed throughout is the true essence of its grip. This show goes on for (as of this review) 277 episodes, and I enjoyed them greatly for their engaging feeling of belonging. You truly feel as at home as the characters do.

The Good

Characters: Each character has their own personalities that have been crafted by their own harsh backstories and environs, making them interestingly complex and relatable.

Voice actors: Every character sounds natural and their voices fit their frames perfectly in the Japanese version, and the English Dub is tolerably decent.

Visuals: The colours are clean and neat, lending well to the bright and energetic moments whilst offering wonderful shading to the dark and gritty desperate moments. The animations for the summoning circles are beautiful to watch and do not get boring to see.

Music: The music complements the story and characters like fine wine to a hearty meal. While the visuals are your main dish, the audio adds a level of satisfaction hard to find in many anime.

The Bad

Filler: Some episodes were unnecessary padding; a crime committed by many popular anime like Naruto, Bleach, and other popular anime. While enjoyable in some circumstances, a few others were on the lower end of the spectrum and less needed.

The Ugly

Nothing was terribly off-putting about this anime. I would hate to denigrate such a good show.

Final Impressions

Overall, any failings in this anime were covered by its spirited tone and rollicking humour. I recommend this anime to the constant watcher, the occasional watcher, and the beginner alike.

Since I'm lazy, I'll use a similar format that you used, haha.

Rating: 2.5/10

The Okay:

Sound: Decent OST and voice acting, nothing bad here!

The Ugly:

Story: Rinse & repeat. There is no plot development, short story arcs that makes the story as a whole predictable as a sunrise, and a worthless seven-year skip.

Characters: It's true that each character had their own distinct power. But that's it. Each character was equally shallow, feigned, and vapid... actually, scratch that, some were definitely worse than others.
Who cares about an idiosyncratic strategy to defeat an enemy; they have the power of plot armor!
And as for the character backstories, a minute amount of effort goes into a resolution that never ends in a satisfactory way.

Visuals: Erratic animation, some scenes look like they're produced in Clipart. Wearying art, nothing out of the ordinary.

Filler: 38 filler episodes. My, my, my.

Final Impressions:

Fairy Tail can be summed up as a string with platitudinous plots, directionless fight scenes, pace-ruining and facile monologs, and Nakama powered and insipid characters attached to it. I would recommend this anime to the average masochist.

Ouch! Poor Fairytail!

Yes, indeed, I find people either love or hate this anime. It is the way with all things; some people don't like the Matrix. Personally, I loved Fairy Tail but I can also understand that same impression will not be held by all that watch it. Humans are nothing if not varied in opinions and thought.

Keep your voice up Sylar! The wider the array of reviews, the more people can decide for themselves whether something is worth watching or not.
