I like practically anything to be honest so long as other character relationships exist. And by that what I mean is I don't like any sort of character if they exist solely for the purpose of being "the girlfriend" or "the boyfriend". It's hard to like characters when they don't really exist outside of their relationships. And some of the better characters that i've seen have come from strictly yaoi and strictly yuri stories. What matters the most in romantic stories is how the characters are outside of the romance setting altogether.

If you count Yuri on ice as yaoi then count me in as a yaoi fangirl

But really, I haven't seen yaoi or yuri so I can't say if I like them.

Yuri that's meant to actually appeal to lesbians is obviously pretty hard to find, but I've enjoyed some nonetheless. I just finished Sakrua Trick and it was super adorable.

But are there anyone here who think differently? Any guy here who like yaoi and any girl here who like yuri?

I'm just asking out of curiosity. I know they exist but they seem so... rare. If you are a fudanshi or if you're a yuri fangirl, how did you end up becoming one? Why? When did it start? What made you like them?

I like yuri. I'm a lesbian and it was my outlet in the closet since around 8th grade? I started reading yuri manga written by lesbian mangakas and I instantly got hooked. Not counting the fact there weren't a lot of lesbian couples on tv in america, I was never a fan of american tv, and when they were written it was very heteronormative. While there are heteronormative couples in yuri, yuri is much more femme/femme relationships, which felt more natural to me. It was so nice to have characters and authors who struggled with the same situations, thoughts, and feelings that I did but was less hindered by violent homophobia as in the US, yuri was far more optimistic and less political. Yuri written by men is generally not very good in my experience, but most lauded yuri anime/manga are written by women for women, so I don't think it's as male dominated as people think, going by statistics of yuri magazines (where most yuri manga is published, yuri anime is pretty rare tbh) it's a pretty even split unlike yaoi. The misconception comes from people calling undertones "yuri" which some people consider yuri, but that's usually just teasing with no actual romance declared and usually it's a part of the moe boom and is more accepted on tv, which was what most men who like yuri watch. But tbh, no kiss, not yuri.

I quite like both. I'm not really much of a shipper though.

I love both. I just love LOVE, in general. Plus points when they're hot since I don't shy away from r-18 content, but the romance and chemistry are priorities for me.
