So for example we know that guys tend to look at cute anime girls and even have waifu's for example mine is Hatsune Miku and some look at them in a more extreme ways these are called obviously weaboos a popular term among us anime fans and otakus so my question is do they view anime the same as we do where they look at the male characters the same way we look at the girl characters or are they the same as us where they look forward to cute girls and cliches.
In my opinion we are pretty close but have there differences.

Some do, some don't. I wouldn't categorize waifus as romantic, but just an expression of adulation for a certain character, often on the very same or similar criteria men have in my experience.

I have anime crushes but I have too little self confidence to even ship myself with anyone even fictional character.

But yes, I think there are girls who see anime the same way. I've seen girls posting about their fave male character and saying 'He's my Husbando!' and such.

in general, girls can more easily sympathize with female characters (especially in romance anime)... or laugh/cringe at how unrealistic females are being portrayed. different girls have different taste, so whether a female character is acting realistically or not doesn't affect how much girls enjoy the anime itself.

edit: you could think of it as how girls see females in chick flicks.

I notice when anime guys are hot, but I've never been into the husbando/waifu thing that weeaboos like because I view it as somewhat pathetic and it just never interested me. I watch anime because I like art styles and the stories, not the fan service.

I'm pretty sure women have a better imagination than men do in regards to seeing their favorite character.

However, that being said, I think we are both on the same page.

Does that mean a woman would be on the same page with seeing a male character to be more than revealing, just like a female character to be more than revealing to men. Some women have their certain attraction to both, just like some men do as well. It doesn't have to be like that entirely, we can find a character to be charming, or witty, personality, and disposition, all of these are taken into account aside from the physical appeal.

Behind closed doors, some things go beyond attraction, but those are simply the odd ones out of the bunch to really fantasize about it in such a strong way.

We can have your fan fictions and situations, but there is one thing for certain. We are all on the same page

For me. There are simply characters that I respect enough not to tarnish them, or degrade them, I would never even think about putting them in a situation of pure desire. They go no further than the story that was told. Sure we can pay tribute, but that's as far as I'll go. Have respect for good characters please.

First, assuming some sufficiently robust definition of the categories guy and girl, it is already impossible for the two to "see" anime the same way. For what you "see" is actually what society has constructed you to look for, by how it frames the world for you. If society frames women as objects of desire for men, for example, then the guy will see women in anime in terms of how they're objects for him or the men in the anime, and the girl will see the men in the anime in terms of how they make claims upon her or the women in the anime. Now, that's a little hand-wavy (word 37 in the list of physicists' 100 top mundane words), but the point is that since society teaches guys and girls to view the world differently, they'll see different things in anime.

So try a little thought experiment (which is word 33): Switch all the male characters in Re:ZERO -Starting Live in Another World - to females, and vice versa. Now try to wrap your head around everything that changes. (The first, of course, is that Re:ZERO would actually be good.) I feel like I could think about this for a couple hours (but it's Re:ZERO so I don't care), but here are a few that come to mind: Who is best girl? Because it's not Subaru - she would definitely be considered a bitch. There aren't really that many to choose from, but imma go with Betelgeuse. Is there a best guy? It'd probably still be Rem for having been so devoted to someone who spurned him, but - trying not to spoil things - Rem's interactions with Subaru would likely seem a lot more disturbing. Satella becomes infinitely more disturbing and no longer kind of sexy. Would this version of Re:ZERO be as popular as the real one? Probably not.

I'm not sure I'd know what it'd mean for me to "husbando" a character. There are a few I'd definitely go out with, but that's not the primary function of a waifu.

Best girl would clearly be Old-Lady Rom.

I've honestly never really understood the whole waifu thing.

Pft! No way. Willhelga van Astrea seeking to avenge her long-lost lover is obviously best girl. Plus she gets bonus points for kicking the crap out of the series' protagonist several times.
