So my friend introduced me to Crunchyroll a while back and I decided to start it out with a free trial. So I did the free trial, and a day or two maybe, after I came back to watch some more anime, so I watched one episode of a show I like and I realized that there were no ads whatsoever. I was confused on what was going on so I logged into my account and checked around and for some reason I'm now a subscribed premium member. I tried to just see if there was a way to cancel it since I didn't want to be billed for something I wasn't aware of. So how do I cancel this subscription?

To see if you have actually been billed, check your /orderstatus page. If you have, and what you say is true, that it was only a couple of days, that sounds like a new bug... in which case, you should submit a support request here: /contact

Sorry if what I said sounded weird but it's not that I've been billed. It's that I'm going to be billed for a premium membership once it reaches thirty days, even though I was not notified about having the premium membership until I checked my settings. I wanted to know of a way to cancel the subscription.

You have to wait initially roughly 48 hours for the payment method you had to enter gets electronically verified with your bank. Somewhat after that amount of time, you would visit this page: /acct/membership and you should see a cancellation button. The button will be there right away, but you won't be able to complete it right away.

Be advised, though, when on a free trial, your premium benefits stop immediately when you cancel, even if it was only in use for a couple of days. You are in effect, saying: "I tried it and I didn't like it, and I don't intend to pay".

Doing a trial is actually signing up for a membership subscription, albeit one where you can back out if you find that having the benefits of no commercials, high resolution viewing, up to date simulcasts, etc aren't worth giving up a trip to Starbucks or a few lottery tickets each month...

Yeah but it's just that I'm finding it kind of unfair that they signed me up for their paid subscription right after the trial. I didn't get a notification or anything right after the trial, so they just automatically sign me up for a subscription that I can't cancel until after it charges me $6.95? Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that the quality is bad or anything , it was actually really nice but signing me up to pay right after the free trial to the point where I don't notice is kind of unfair to me. I just want this $6.95 subscription this month that I didn't even want to be cancelled. Is there any way to get into contact with a mod about this?

The free trial is for a premium membership, and it's not that "they" signed you up, it's that "you" signed up. You may simply have overlooked that the terms of the free trial are that if you don't cancel before the trial period ends, it will be assumed that you want to continue and you'll be charged to continue the membership. It would have been stated as part of the sign-up process. This is pretty standard operating procedure for subscription services that offer a free trial.

You can cancel before they charge you. But when you cancel, it really does cancel the trial premium membership, so if you are enjoying the trial you'll want to wait a bit before canceling--just make sure that you do cancel before the last day of the trial if you want to avoid being charged.

Here's info for how to cancel:

Ooh! This place is perfect for the problem I'm having! (My apologies for butting in.) For me it's the other way around. I was gifted a hour Premium membership. I'm on day three, and it's supposed to be self-canceling. I don't have any billing or payment information attached to Crunchyroll, so I'm essentially getting a free service. That's not fair -- the commercials pay for this site, right? I'm willing to sit through them if I don't actually want to pay for the membership. Please let me know how to cancel, somebody, so CR can get its money's worth!

Its possible you used a 48 hour guest pass.

Which sometimes goes up to 5 days in length. It should automatically cancel.

I'm having a slight issue. I've been trying to set up a premium membership, but for some reason I keep getting a message saying there was a problem with my card. I know the card is still valid (exp date isn't until 2019) and I know there is money on the card. But for some reason I just can't get it to process. Is it possible that it's a problem on the site's end or my card's end?

I have previously done a free trial membership in the past but cancelled after the month was up due to losing my job at the time. I tried to skip the free trial aspect thinking that might help but still resulted in the same issue. Even updated my card information, same issue again. Deleted the card info and reenter it, same issue still occurred -_-

I had Numlock on. Yes, it was a 48 hour membership. It did eventually cancel -- my commercials are back. Thank you!
