They're still around? I thought that whole thing just up and died years ago when other children's cartoons became popular.

I once used to be part of the brony community. I mean, I could say I'm a seasoned veteran as I watched the show and its fanbase grow since Season 2 premiered. The show wasn't bad, the characters weren't bad. Yes, it may have been originally aimed to the younger audiences, but Ha$bro soon saw the sudden goldmine and began adding more... serious content on the show like episodes plot points that lasted than just a 2-part episode or a season. However, I stopped being a brony when season 5 or 6 were still airing because of the shitty twists and turns it was taking, much like I've dropped some anime series. (Remember Death Note and its "extended universe" where L's disciple/bitch took the glory of uncovering Yagami's plan? like that)

The fanbase was decent at around Season 2,3 and even 4. There were genuinely good works of fan art like music remixes, fanmade episodes, comics, etc. But after season 4, it began going downhill quickly. I abandoned the fan base ship because it was getting too cancerous.

And no, weeabos, bronies aren't authistic people nor pedophiles nor some sort of weird geek breed that lurks under the little children's bed. I can say, every fan base has its truly talented or dedicated part, and then there's the weirdos who just want to R34 it all with shitty drawings. It's in every fan base... except Steins;Gate's. So far, I haven't seen a weirdo among that masterpiece's fanbase.

I can't stand them, most of them seem to be rude, and are cringey. Most of the "bronies" I've seen are 20-40 year old guys, which is creepy, because MLP is meant for little girls, and to top it off, they seem to spend hundreds of dollars on MLP merchandise, but a lot of them tend to have bad hygiene,

Cartoons were always popular, especially consider works from Powerpuff Girls, Batman:TAS, to the before then Avatar. MLP especially since the franchise aimed at both genders for what started out aimed at girls.

I think they are a bit odd, but to each their own.

I agree with both above.

I'm a fan of MLP: FIM. I wouldn't have been but it was so popular and I wanted to know why. Me and my siblings watched it and it was enjoyable and likeable for a show that;s supposed to be aimed at just little girls. It's not weird to like it if it's just for the story. It talks about friendship and such and as cheesy as that can be, they tell it in a good and fun way.

I have heard that there are those overly fanatical Bronies out there and they do seem to be weird and creepy BUT not all Bronies are like that. They're not weird just because they like MLP. I mean, there are loads of girly, kiddie-looking anime out there, heck I've heard there are grown men who like the PreCure series (and those people get bashed by others who don't understand why they like a mahou shoujo anime) and I'm sure there are fans of those who act like these cringey bronies you are talking about but not all of them. There are decent ones and you just haven't met them.

And as mentioned above by the others, there are cringy fans for any type of fandom whether it be anime/manga, games, MLP or books so please don't lump all of us together. Just as there's billions of people on this planet, there are many different types of fans. We're not the worse. There are just those who acts like that and are more vocal. If you don't like the show and you didn't see it's appeal, I understand but that doesn't mean it doesn't have any. We can see why it's good and you not seeing it doesn't mean it's bad or that we're weird for liking it.

Think of it this way, there are good and bad bronies, just like there are decent otakus/anime fans and weeaboos.

I'm pretty negative in my assumptions about them but acknowledge that those assumptions are not always true.

I liked MLP for about the first 2 seasons, because I thought the show was cute. I've watched a good amount of shoujo anime so watching little girls shows wasn't all that new to me anyway. I didn't act like it was revolutionary or super deep or whatever the hell bronies say about the show. Those that take it seriously enough to talk about it online in a serious discussion--like speculation on certain things or predictions--I tend to be particularly skeptical about. A simple pony avatar doesn't put me off that much.

I'm more judgemental of people that openly enjoy fan service shitshows and straight up hentai than I am of bronies.

Exactly--Saw the plans to do the CGI My Little Pony Movie, and thought, "Yep, it's over when THAT happens..."

Besides, thought all the "progressive", "tolerant", and "inclusive" (and girl-hating) Pony fans, If Ya Know What I Mean And I Think Ya Do(tm), were all now wrapped in crying about how nobody takes the deeper levels of Steven Universe and its characters as seriously they should.
Such is fad fame.
