Bronies are still a thing?

So long as they're not breaking any laws or hurting other people, I don't see a point in caring enough to make a judgement call.

I mostly feel lie they are late to the party. Anime has had that genre for years and perfected it. I gave the show a whirl to make sure I could weigh in. It ain't bad, but for such a fandom to develop over the B-list show in a genre seems to be overkill.

Wouldn't it's massive popularity make it by definition not a B show?

Not to mention it's massive length and toy sales.

I honestly don't care much. Lots of haters fixate on the annoying creepy extreme ones, like they do for furries, but most aren't quite that bad. They're just grownups with an interest in something unexpected of them by the mainstream, just like being a fan of anime, manga and really Japanese games in the Western world. I judge individuals on a case-by-case basis, like I do everyone else. Arbitrarily lumping every member of a certain group in the same category just because you don't like them for whatever reason is usually the mark of an asshole.

I was one back when it exploded in 2011. Gave it a shot due to a friend's recommendation and thought it was pretty charming since it was very reminiscent of the cartoons I grew up with as a kid (I.e. Dexter's Lab and Foster's). Honestly, MLP broadened my horizons and pushed me to be more accepting of the interests of others which is one of the reasons I got into anime.
I had initially hated anime growing up, and the people that watched it. The anime fans that I saw in high school seemed creepy, obsessed, and just plain weird, and same those qualities can be imposed on just about ANY type of fandom.

"People think I'm 'weird' or a 'pedophile' for watching a 'little girl's' show, but I'm enlightened enough to see the deeper meaning in it"--
Oh, really? I mean, that's just been a recent thing, you know, NOBODY went around calling you a, quote, "creepy pedophile" for having some unexplained interest in the 90's Sailor Moon dub! That just DIDN'T HAPPEN!!

Many cartoons nowadays get their inspiration from anime and manga but it's kind of just been catching on for not that many years but I guess this had a huge fandom because it's one of the first to try to break the norm. Not everyone watches anime but it's easier for people to get into cartoons since it's already in English (which a majority of people can speak and many doesn't really like reading subtitles while watching anything) plus, they might know some people, like their kids, younger siblings, etc that could get them into it so I think that's how it got big like it did.

Also, word of mouth. That's how my siblings and I got into that show...

So I just have one question for many of you who have responded; why do you liken Bronies with Pedophiles and child molesters?

Is liking a cartoon aimed at young girls mean that the males who enjoy it are only there for the target audience?

Are the female fans of the show pedophiles too in your minds?

How does liking a cartoon equate to being sexually attracted to children??
