Hello!

I've been wondering whether to watch the new Naruto movies before getting back into the series. Originally I wanted to hold off until the end of Shippuuden, but apparently it doesn't want to end just yet. I've been meaning to get back into it, but I don't know if I should watch the movies first, or watch the anime.

My question is: Where do the movies fit into the timeline, and should I watch them before getting back into the anime, or can I wait? I'd like to keep this as pragmatic and spoiler-free as possible, and I'd prefer it if people did not discuss the contents of either the anime or the movie, but simply stuck to where they fit in the timeline.

I've been furiously googling for an answer, but everything came up inconclusive, with some people stating that the new episodes take place just before The Last, and other claiming the new episodes are set almost a dozen years later in the timeline.

Thanks in advance. :)

The movie Naruto The Last takes place approximately 2-3 years after the defeat of Kaguya & the unification treaty between the villages. Without getting too much into spoiler territory, the current episodes of Naruto Shippuden take place between the completion of the mission from the movie & the actual marriage of Naruto & Hinata.

If you're confused, this is a small throw back in time, similar to when they did a filler arc about the Chunin Exam where all Naruto's fellow generation of ninjas became Chunin, & where Neji was double promoted to Jonin.

So, if you're asking for an exact date during the main timeline, you're not going one; sorry.
