Obviously, this seems to be a trend ever since the Virginia Tech massacre. After this incident occured, there was a shooting at a university in Deleware,a shooting at a tech school in Louisiana, and now there was another massacre at Northern Illinois University. The sad part is is that universities doesn't seem as safe as it was before. It seems like people are likely to get killed trying to get an education and move on with their lives. What's your opinions on this?!

Isn't something that all of these killers have in common is that they just couldn't get over some pain of some kind?

Yeah, but in the end, you have to be stronger; stronger than everything and everyone around you.

I knew it was a matter of time until someone mentioned this. lol. I don't think colleges can prevent anything like this from happening. It's just too easy to get a hold of firearms and to carry them around. I think they need to crack down on the issuing of firearms. A hunting rifle is one thing but what is someone doing with 2 handguns and a shotgun in public? I think there needs to be a series of courses, tests, and criteria for even getting a hold of any firearms. Also, socially/mentally unstable (or immature) people will always be around. I think the internet has actually spread this unhappiness among people. Too much information, addictions, groups, image influence from the internet. I don't think colleges can really do anything about it since they deal with young adults and don't have the capability to stop or prevent these issues. It's all dependent on the family, early school development, and social behavior of each culture. I think too many males in the world are getting a power-rush and are too obsessed with their pride at times. You actually read or hear people on the internet talking about how they can beat people up, have black belts, or something about weapons. People need to humble themselves and drop this illusion of power. Live your life and get on with it. Bringing a gun and shooting people doesn't make you important or make people fear/respect you. You're not proving anything. Anyone can get a gun and shoot people. The only difference is that they have the mental/emotional maturity and control to not do something so melodramatic and self-serving.

If the US reformats it's constitution/bill of rights, instead of being stubborn, a lot of these gun related crimes wouldn't take place. Those of you who cry "it's our freedom" to do this that and the other, need to relies quickly that you can suffer under those same freedoms .

that applies to anything. i'm glad i have the right to bear arms.

as for the shootings, its kind of unnerving, seeing as i'm off to college in another 5 months.

and just because people are jerks in life doesn't give you an excuse to put a bullet in innocent people.

that's stereotyping, and either way, how other people treat you is no excuse for killing random people.

It's sad that again we have another university related shooting. You can't change the rights to bear arms because if a criminal wants to find a gun their going to get one regardless of a law. As for bullying that's not an excuse anyone can use for justifying murder.

i say college teachers should be allowed a pistol that they can secretly stash somewhere. each teacher will have their own secret place that no one else is allowed to know about(though, students and other teachers might have an idea where some guns are held---that's not avoidable, some people are more apt to notice than others)

schools are targeted because they don't have anything to fight back with(duh)
hell, i say students should be allowed weapons too(maybe create a campus police of volunteer students that have to go through training and stuff?---so that we don't have to take away real police from the area just to guard campuses)

just put yourself in the killer's shoes, would you attack a police station? hell no. would you attack the white house? hell no
the bank? hell no unless you're armed from head to toe

getting rid of our right to bear arms is not the solution
people need to know that illegal arsenals number in the millions(there are millions of gang members everywhere.. assume that each has their own firearm. because pretty much, almost all of them do)

None of this is required. All you need are classroom doors that require student IDs or codes to get into each class. I'm a gun owner and I'd give up my right to bear arms if it was for the good of society. I don't know why people are complaining about losing their right to bear arms. I mean, how often do they use their gun for the reasons they argue? Most guys buy guns because they like guns or think it's cool. Protection my ass. I bought guns for the military and for hunting. Not for protection. I don't think outlawing guns is the way to go though. I think we need to put strict regulations on firearm distribution, management, and surveillance. The majority of US society does not even have the proper mindset, education, or reasoning to have a gun. I've been to the range and all I see are people having fun shooting, shooting beer cans, bringing AKs and spraying the targets, etc. I mean come on. If you want self-defense and guns are outlawed, anyone attacking you will be attacking you at close range. All you need is a taser-gun, tranquilizer gun, or one of the many other items out there. And if anyone wants to look tough, go work out or something.
