it's sad to hear so many innocent people dying because of these
killers that are out there.
why can't these people get over with it and just live there lives?
why the heck are you killing people!!? agh...
killing people doesn't make that wound to get better...
they really should get a code for each classrooms or something!!

This kinda reminds me of the Dunblane massacre that happened in Scotland 12 years ago, where this guy walked into a Primary School one day with a shotgun and killed a class of children and their teacher. It was terrible, and to think that something similar is occuring in the states?...

Its sad to think that people could do such a thing.

Universities should have security guards. I study at De La Salle University Manila (look it up if you don't know) and the place has gates with security guards. Basically, you need an ID to enter. The guards also check the bags of everyone before entering. The security is tight, scissors are banned, you need permits to use your personal laptop inside the campus and there are a lot of cameras inside. There is still a small possibility of guns being slipped inside but it's pretty small. x_x

yeah I hope it's just a prank too. All universities in Illinois are panicking now.
Oh, about NIU, It's really too unfortunate. My friend goes there and knows one of the people that died.

Well this is a social problem I believe, although Brazil is a violent country you don't see this sort of shit going on here, that's because it is not that easy for everyone to get a gun and because it wouldn't be such a midia show over it. The thing is, why the hell did those people thought that they could resolve their problems by shooting others? Is there no other way to express in this society? In my opinion civilians must not be allowed to have guns, so that they don't take it as an opition to resolve their problems.

if these people want to kill themselves(as they invariably do) why do they need to drag down a couple of people with them? i noe is impossible for the govt to remove the rights to carry arms for "protection"(which i believe is crap) but at least make obtaining them harder or...

hate reading these kind of things in the papers...

i say college teachers should be allowed a pistol that they can secretly stash somewhere. each teacher will have their own secret place that no one else is allowed to know about(though, students and other teachers might have an idea where some guns are held---that's not avoidable, some people are more apt to notice than others)

schools are targeted because they don't have anything to fight back with(duh)
hell, i say students should be allowed weapons too(maybe create a campus police of volunteer students that have to go through training and stuff?---so that we don't have to take away real police from the area just to guard campuses)

just put yourself in the killer's shoes, would you attack a police station? hell no. would you attack the white house? hell no
the bank? hell no unless you're armed from head to toe

getting rid of our right to bear arms is not the solution
people need to know that illegal arsenals number in the millions(there are millions of gang members everywhere.. assume that each has their own firearm. because pretty much, almost all of them do)

Thats just bloody crazy lmao. Giving a teacher a firearm? How will the kindergarten kids act when they see that their teacher is packing a piece then they think it's a toy?
In the UK gun crime is still around but we dont get ppl shooting each other in Uni, college etc. It may happen once a blue moon but it's not as bad as america.
And america will never give up their firearm rights so I guess the Uni and stuff need to have police stationed on Campus.

I guess there will always be some bullied kid close to the edge...

actually i was just referring to mostly colleges/universities. and kinda to high school

if we somehow get the kids involved, i say we just keep a police pressence around the area
or relocate schools/police stations near each other

maybe house a special branch of the police somewhere in the local area near the schools
i lived on military bases for like 6-8 years. fire fighters were stationed all over the place. it wasn't a real fire station though. they just remodeled base-houses so that it can hold up to 6 firemen and 1-2 trucks. i think we can spare atleast 2-3 cops to be stationed around school areas with young kids. the station would ofcourse look just like a regular house. so it's not like the kids will be like "ooooo a police station"----- also, they'd only be stationed there for like 1-3 hours a day(3 shifts of one hour or something)

it's not that effective though since there'd be many other hours the shooter can just pick if he knows the station hours of the cops.
but atleast 6 hours(if adjusted correctly) can be safe for the kids

yup. we know americans won't give up their right to bear arms. i know kuz i'm one lol
but yeah. a Campus needs to have atleast a dozen volunteers(they'd get paid, but they're volunteering to be the one to be in harm's way in case anything happens).. i don't like the idea of putting cops there though, because i think college students can handle themselves if given the chance. plus.. cops are already fighting all sorts of frontlines.

edit: we can't forget about gang members. a lot of them will not listen or abide to the removal of our rights to bear arms. and they'll always have a firearm or some sort of weapon.. arresting people who break the law of possessing a weapon would only lead to over populations of prison(which is already happening everywhere in the U.S.).... where would you house 1 million gang members..AND how exactly would you arrest all of these people?
