I think I've messed up some settings accidentally. While watching anime with chromecast on tv I've noticed how video doesn't look as good and sharp as before. So how can I change settings back to 1080p on chromecast and prevent packing artifacts showing. I'm logged in an app and subscribed.

you're not the only one affected. some people suggested this as the reason
so far, the only response CR made is "we're working on it". PR seems just as surprised about the quality drop.

Is this real? The video quality drop is indeed huge. I wish they fix that soon

Anyone know of any other reputable streaming sites? Otherwise I'm going to go back to the seas, this is really disappointing from CR.

There aren't any "reputable" sites aside from the licensees of the anime, which tends to be region specific and exclusive. Remember when CR wasn't one of the "reputable" sites? The video quality was actually good!

Oh, how I miss the glory days of uploading ripped anime subbed by the community, and CR actually felt like a community.

Lets make CR great again, everyone become pirates.

But really, I'll probably stop my premium with CR as I hardly watch the anime they release anyways, most of it's the same boring character designs, plots and themes. Anything I do want to watch is going to be available to me somewhere somehow in the same quality.

You have different memories of CR from those days than I do. They didn't even have HD, and even the use of h.264 was relatively recent vs. their conversion to a legitimate service.

For the time, it was above average. Youtube hadn't even started offering HD yet! But the rest of the world has moved on and Crunchyroll has not.
