In what order do I watch this? I'm watching the 1995 original movie right now.

This Wiki has a good breakdown:

- Ghost In the Shell
- https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/wiki/watch_order#wiki_ghost_in_the_shell

There are currently three Ghost in the Shell timelines:

1 Ghost in the Shell (Movies)

2 Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex

3 Ghost in the Shell: Arise

These are all separate continuities and do not have any relations with one another and can be viewed independently. However, the original movie introduces concepts which will greatly enhance your enjoyment of the other installments. As such, it is recommended that you watch the 1995 movie first.

Pretty much anything except the new hollywood movie (and maybe solid state society) is pretty good. Read the manga too because not enough people do.

thank you guys! also what about Neon Genesis Evangelion? I've watched the series but can someone explain the different movies? 1.11, 2.22 and so on plus the other movies? I loved the series and think it's funny how many people like pacific rim but didn't know how much of that was taken from NGE

I'm new to anime other than NGE and samurai champloo. I'm currently watching ghost in the shell, attack on titan and sword art online(because I play FFXIV and someone on there said it was based off MMOs)

The TV series, Death and Rebirth, and End of Evangelion are one timeline. Death and Rebirth is mostly covering the events of the TV series and the beginning of End of Evangelion, so I don't think it's really even necessary to watch it, but it's been a long time since i watched it so maybe there's something important in there I'm not remembering.

The Rebuild of Evangelion series is an alternate storyline of Evangelion. Evangelion 1.0 You Are [Not] Alone mostly just retells some of the events from the TV series up to the 6th Angel where they use the Positron Rifle. Evangelion 2.0 You Can [Not] Advance is where things start to deviate and ends quite differently. Evangelion 3.0 You Can [Not] Redo is entirely new stuff.

1.0 is the name when the movie was released in theaters and the intial DVD release. 1.11 was used for a later release that fixed some issues and added maybe 2-3 minutes of animation. The DVD/Blu-Ray releases for 2.0 and 3.0 were just released as 2.22 and 3.33 from the start and had some fixes and adjustments.

There are differences in free membership and premium (paid) membership. The 48-hour guest passes give a taste of the premium membership.

For a quick overview of what those differences are, see:
