Studio BONES announced on Friday that it will produce a new film trilogy for the Eureka Seven anime franchise titled Kōkyōshihen Eureka Seven Hi-Evolution (Psalms of Planets Eureka Seven Hi-Evolution). The first film will open in Japan this year, and the next two films will open in 2018 and 2019, respectively.

The films will follow The First Summer of Love phenomenon that occurred a decade before the first Eureka Seven series. The anime franchise thus far has hinted at, but never depicted in full, "the beginning of it all."

Director: Hisatoshi Shimizu
Mechanical Animation Director: Shingo Abe

One of Bones' new projects. Who is ready for some more Eureka? I remember watching this on CR awhile ago and enjoyed it quite a bit.

Article posted just 3 minutes prior to this thread. Stark confirmed to stalk ANN.

Anyways, there sure have been a handful of surprising continuations of old anime recently. If this takes place 10 years prior to the series, it's odd that the characters look either the same or slightly older. I suppose it might start in the present (AO never existed according to fans) and then some of the characters start talking about the past.

Ahh cool wondered what this was while going through my twitter feed and seeing this odd E7 retweet showing up, too bad it'll take 3 years for it to play out.

Well, that was just surprising to hear. But nevertheless, it's great to see that a prequel to this series is coming in the form of a movie trilogy. Seeing that it happens 10 years prior to the start of the story that I'm expecting this story to be narrated through Adrock and Eureka, so it will be great to hear about Adrock's story and how all that led to Renton being who he is. Certainly should be amazing seeing that it sticks to the main storyline as opposed to AO that is in another world and was just needlessly confusing as hell leading to such an unsettled ending.

Well, considering what the Quartz Gun does, that's not entirely inaccurate...

Sounds like it's a prequel, reimagining, and a sequel all in one. I can get on board with this! I'm so excited they're revisiting Eureka 7 and having the original characters take the helm again. I hope they just forget AO ever happened (I certainly have), considering it'll have a different ending, this seems like it'll take a different path.

Anyways, I'm pumped and excited to see how this turns out, Eureka 7 is one of my favorite animes ever. I thought Eureka 7 was as good as done after AO, this announcement came out of nowhere!

Definitely will be looking forward to this o.o I loved the original series and I'd to see if its going to cover some of the issues that the original did , if so I'll love it as well.

So the question if part 1 is a prequel, than what of the other 2. Is part 2 is movie version of the series, is parts 3 a sequel. Or part 2 and 3 are retelling of the series. If part 3 is post series maybe finally we can erase the stain of the franchise Ao and have it be non canon. I refuse to believe in which all the tragedy that happened to Renton and Eureka happened. They are suppose to have a happy life, and I know life can't be perfect, but having their child not die, is that too much to ask?
