Seeing as how I'm probably not the only thirty-something on here, I probably won't embarrass myself too much.

I got a bonus gift card for Amazon from work, so I decided to get something I had been wanting for some time, but had decided it wa too juvenr to spend money from my paycheck on it. Now that I've purchased a realistic Master Sword, I may purchase an SAO Elucidator, as well.

I'm guessing you ended up getting one of the replicas that aren't very sharp (from the images, at least). These are kind of cool just to have around; especially if you have a little "gamer corner/room" (depending on how much the girlfriend/wife allows you lol). I have a replica of the black Master Sword (from Twilight Princess) that's fairly sharp. I keep it and a similar replica as yours (not sharp/display mostly) of the "original" Master Sword across a Hyrulian Shield in my gaming room.

Nice purchase! As long as you're not running around town slashing with it, I'm sure nobody will give you too much grief over it.

Yep, pretty much. Only the tip is sharp, but it's VERY sharp. I'm not planning on sharpening it, because then I'd have to register it as a lethal weapon with the state of TX. I don't really care to go through all that, so, I'll probably just leave it as a cosplay/decorative item

Next, I'm thinking about getting the Elucidator from SAO.

Why did somebody report this?
Looks cool OP. I'd like to get one along with the shield for display.
Reminded me of this story

Does Texas make you register swords? That's weird.

Ah, sword replicas, always a good time. I also have some of those, my most recent acquisition was a replica of Bill's katana from Kill Bill. I call it the Legendary Piece of Shit because the blade is by far the least viable to be used as an actual weapon that I have ever seen.

My other one is a master seord replica similar to Ninjitsukuo's, except it's Dark Link's version. There's a funny story behind that, because I got it for cosplay because my brother and I looked very similar at the time so we were going to have him cosplay as Link and me be Dark Link. Sadly that never actually happened and we look too different now to be able to really pull it off as well as before but it's a nice fantasy.

Anyway that's a really nice replica you've got, though the proportions make me scratch my head a little in terms of verisimilitude. Way better than the Elucidator.

It was most likely because someone figured it belonged in enthusiat's corner rather than gd.

http://www.knifeup.com/texas-knife-laws/comment-page-5/

You have to remember, Texas has a long & somewhat bloody history. While there are a lot of stories & movies about gun fights, just as many or even more people died due to knife or stab wounds.

As for registering the sword: Any weapon capable of causing grievous bodily harm must be registered, & licensed. Because it would be impossible to conceal unless you're Andre the Giant or Paul Wight, it's not illegal to own it. Also, because I live in the county & not the city limits, the laws are both more lax & more strict, depending on the circumstances.

For instance, you can openly display a firearm while in the county, but not in the city. In the city, the only time you can display a firearm is when you are actively defending yourself. It has to do with disturbing the peace kind of stuff.

I fenced in high school so I have a few swords. I have a foil, a saber, and a longsword.

Swords are fun to collect. I had quite a few in my teens and twenties, but now I only have one. I can't bring myself to part with it as I met the sword smith at an SCA event and he made it specifically for me. Unfortunately, it was the last sword he ever made before passing due to an aggressive cancer. The sword is aptly named OMEGA.

This one I got relatively cheap, as far as real cosplay quality swords go. It's real carbon steel; ie, it WILL hold an edge if I decide to put one on it. The cost of both the sword & the shipping was less than $40. All the Elucidator swords I've seen run at least $60+.

I'd have to REALLY WANT IT for that price. I'm more likely to get the Shield next, since most of them run around the same price.

Yeah, looks pretty cool. I might buy one or two as wall decorations one day, but probably wouldn't use them for much else.

In case you're curious. There's another one about $10 less, but it's stainless steel, not carbon steel.
