Hello,

I have been getting the error: an exception has occurred with the application. TypeError: 'undefined' is not an object (evaluating 'curAdSlot.setPlayed' ) line: 398, source: js/app/crunchyroll/view/component/VideoPage.js.

The problem happens when the Crunchyroll app tries to play the adverts from the server. This also happens on my Xbox 360 and I have to relaunch the app. And again its when an advert is about to play.

This suddenly started to happen two days ago. I am in the U.K London area using Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.

Please, if the tech team could have a look at this I would be grateful.

Little update:

From reading forums and the net, it seems this happens from time to time maybe because of server maintenance but this time its taking longer.

My Xbox 360 Crunchyroll app is giving me the error message: Error Crunchyroll server unavailable the data retrieved from the request was malformed.

And: Sorry the chrunchyroll server isn't available right now. Please exit the application and try again later.

This happens when adverts are trying to stream.

I hope they fix these problems soon.

I've been having the same problem with my PlayStation 3 and it pisses me off, this is the second time I've had this problem. The last time I had this problem was back in October and now I'm having it again, it stopped for the longest time and it just suddenly started again, have you gotten any response at all from Crunchyroll?

I've also been having the exact same isaue on my ps3 app. This has DEFINITELY happened before but was fixed after a few days I believe

I submitted a help request today and got this email back pretty quickly (below) suggesting I clear the cache on the ps3 - unfortunately couldn't find the crunchyroll app data anywhere in any of the folders and after reinstalling the app the problem still persists - perhaps it may help you guys though?

Hi there

I had hoped after reading Jo_z8 post that this had been fixed sadly I am still getting this error on PS3

Followed the first link and tried to clear data cache but crunchyroll was not listed in any of the folders that I could see

I have uninstalled Crunchyroll
Reinstalled Crunchyroll
It then says it needs to update which it does to Version1.25.

Very hard to watch anything when it is crashing when trying to play ads.

I hope some one can look further into this.

Well it worked for awhile and now it started again:

I think the problem is that when Crunchyroll hit the 1 million paid user milestone they became a victim of their own success.

1 million user streming Full HD 1080 strained their servers. The only solution is to drop the free users or upgrade the service and they
chose the cheapest option.

And that is why some have had better luck at diffrent times of the day. The Playstation 3 App is overdue a update too, because on the Xbox360 the timer circles, skips the advert and just plays the Video.

All Crunchyroll have to do is simple; add another advert to each marker and it will bring in the funds, especially if they can attract big brands.

I have tried all these suggestions from the help team:

1)Remove the Crunchyroll items from the cache folder (current version 1.25 PS3 has nothing).

2)Reset Modem and network hardware or remove mains power and wait 15 seconds (inform other users on the network first).

3)Login to crunchyroll and remove the devices from the registered list (found under settings)

None of them worked.

Anyway I hope one day they take care of this problem, I know the PS3 is old but it can still easily do this task.

Hi guys,

I agree 100% with @Above_the_rest. At this point I have a long email trail with crunchyroll support where it has randomly worked at certain points and then pretty soon after that the same problem comes back again. Hopefully the PS3 app will be updated and this issue gets fixed soon, I think it's been 5 months at this point.
