Allen Walker is a young Exorcist who has a cursed eye that can see the suffering of the Akumas created by The Millenium Earl. He travels to England to the Headquarters of the Exorcists where his Master has sent him to meet with the other Exorcists. The battle with the Millenium Earl and the Noah Family vs. the Exorcists intensifies when some of the best Exorcists begin to get killed by hoards of Akuma. Japan takes center stage in this end of 19th Century plot in order to not let the entire human race be turned into Akumas and the Exorcists have the power of "Innocence" that was given to them by God on their side.

Overall,i'd have to say that D.Gray-man is a pretty good production. The manga is every bit as interesting. The anime boasts excellent openings and endings as well as very clear animation. This anime is pretty popular, not surprisingly.Although the anime leans towards a darker tone, there was a note of humour throughout the whole series, even at the grimmest time. The strong bonds between the main characters and the way they accepted their fate as exorcists is really touching.D.Gray-man is definitely a must watch.

Ive really enjoyed watching this series and its is a little strange(but not bad) how it has a dark tone with humor throughout. The series is really good at making you anxious to watch the next episode. The openings abd closing themes are consistently good and fit the series well.

In general I'd have to say DGM is my top pick. Great anime overall...its definitely not lacking in animation or in the actual storyline and its progression. The writers are great with making the characters 'loveable' and approachable. I also think that the incorporation of different elements and themes is what makes this anime so great that everyone and anyone can watch it. I mean, you have the main 'supernatural/goth theme', but you also have the romance, and the light humor which i think every anime series that involves fighting or what not should have...not everyone is into the whole 'underworld'/punk/rock scence. So by incorporating a little of everything, without deviating from what the story was originally based on, i.e. keeping it true to the story, the writers made this a 'universal' anime...where even if you dont appreciate the grueling, bloody fighting as much as the 'group' of viewers this sort of thing is intended to, you still love it because you have so much to work with. Also i'd like to comment on the protagonist, Allen Walker...FANTASTIC, THE ABSOLUTE BEST type of leading character u'd want anywhere anytime...from what i've picked up from video comments he's great looking, from a male perspective ;P I can still admit that he has the best features out of all the characters, and he's by far the coolest, i seriously dont get anyone who likes the other one with the red hair....see! i forgot his name already, i'm not kidding...well we're all entitled to our own opinion...anyways yeah...allen=best thing that every happened to protagonists everywhere, rarely do we get someone like him...although they do exist, i would mention names but its irrelevant so ill stay in topic. so thats it, and i hope someone actually reads this through cuz...yeah...lol

D.Gray-man is one of my favorite more longer series of anime. The animation fits it, the dark tone and humor as described by the others is brilliant. The way the characters interacts takes a different view then other animes such as Bleach and Naruto Shippuuden. The character designs, are somewhat simple in some aspects, yet flawless and I really have nothing to say against it.
The Manga is a beautiful story of coarse and has some of the most brilliant artwork in a manga that Ive ever seen. Its detailed throughout and the amount of toning is taken to a minimum.
I give it a 10/10 for its genre and size.
Im also cosplaying as Allen Walker for the upcoming Otakon 2008 convention, Im very excited.

I like this series a lot,it has both humour and action in it.well no romance yet,but i am hoping for that.however,i would like to say that the manga is better.A large chunk of character development has been cut out from the anime for reasons i could not fathom

I really enjoy watching D Gray man. this is definitely one of my favorite series. This series has a unique story and has a good variety of characters. no character is completely alike and there personalities go along with each other so well. one of the good parts of this is that there really aren't too many fillers. and the fillers they have are either very funny or help build suspense. one main reason i like D Gray man is that it is surrounded by darkness. most animes are people living normal lives than getting dragged into a a dark environment. The anime starts out with action and with a dark setting. One thing i hope to look forward to is a little romance. by watching the anime they seem to be hinting at Allen liking Lenalee, but who knows I could be wrong. One thing i don't understand is how it got its name. there is no gray man. However since the noahs are gray that could be the reason. Overall this is a great anime that you wil quickly get addicted to.

Well, I don't really like this anime. Character development wise is good. But I don't really enjoy the plot. It's just another good-over-evil thing. The only part I enjoy was the part where members of the ancient family dominates over the exorcists.

The part where I hate most is "allen won't die". I hate him to the core. Probably if it w as some other character with a different personality it will make it better. Allen's belief, or rather wish, is that to release all the souls that suffer when they become a demon. This may be unique to many, but all I find is the immaturity of his character (probably that's what makes him lovable). Also, his second form (the one that he got after he injured his left eye) looks really ugly. It's like a bunch of gears just stuck to his eyes. Furthermore, the fact that the innocence's will keeps him alive disgusts me(and he got promoted to general).

Not an anime I will recommend one to watch. Monster is much better.
