My family thinks it's too hard and time consuming to take care of a dog. Instead, we have a red-footed tortoise who behaves like a dog sometimes.

No, this isn't him but just in case you wanted to know what one looks like.

A cat lover since birth our home is blessed?? with a pound dog--lab mix. Though my wife has given her a name I am still on a quest to have that beast become neurotic, self-loathing with zip success doing so. To me, she is "the neighbor's dog" and I address her as such. When she requests to go outside and gift the yard with poop I keep dropping subtle hints in a nice tone "please run away", "don't come back". Shoot, damn dog must have a hearing disorder: always comes back. It's been 3 years now and still no success of her wandering off. Damn.
