I've noticed a repeating trend when manga end.

I would say 95% of the time they end with you wanting more because the ending is just so open ended that they just want you to keep reading, but there is nothing left of the story, or the ending is just terrible you just get really mad at the author for wasting your time.

Why are manga authors so sadistic with their stories? Forget that they have editors who tell them to write certain things sometimes. Just think of it as they are writing their own thing all together by themselves.

Sometimes you just have to take the knife and cut deeply at that which you love the most but has become an unbearable burden for you.

I am sure there are some authors who don't care but writing is a business. So of course they are going to write an ending that makes you want more. They are hoping to get additional income out of the ending via sequels, bonus chapters, and even the possibility of a continuation.

While it sucks to not have a clean ending, I can't fault them for wanting to make a living.

There's a case where a manga is cancelled before the author can tell a full story because low rating and sales.

It's mostly an industry thing from what I've gathered.

1) The author gets axed early so isn't able to tell the story properly (Kanojo wa Rokurokubi)
2) The series does better than expected and the author has to drag it out longer than they intended causing them to draw it out (Nisekoi... nuff said)
3) Editorial pressure pushes the author into deviating from what they wanted to write causing them to write themselves in a hole they can't really get back out of (think of all those manga that suddenly went harem for no reason)

Of course sometimes the author just isn't very good.

Because you have to be pretty sadistic to be a mangaka in the first place. It would have to be one of the highest stress jobs out, with mangaka working longer hours than almost any job I can think of with practically no breaks for years on end. Many of them dont live like normal people. Sleep a few hours, work a lot of hours, repeat. Watching some do livestreams they just leave for 3 hours to take a nap in the middle of the day because they dont sleep at night, they sleep when theyre about to collapse. Most westerners would be turned off it just from the hours regardless of how much they want to be one.

Sadistic people=sadistic stories,

Brawling Go is my favorite since Sweet Guy ended last week. And Making AV is pretty good too. Usually just read the dirty stuff on Lezhin.
