If i take even a moment to think about it I can only feel pity for the so called scum of the earth, not anger i feel that the pure horror of what they have done will eventually sink in, and if it doesn't i think thats even more of a reason to pity them. Therefore murdering them can never be justified. Furthermore i would rather die myself than have the responsibility of someone else's death on my hands, so self defence is unjustifiable. Murder in the defence of others is a difficult question though, i would much rather show someone what they were doing wrong rather than kill them even if it killed me, however if that was un doable i believe i would be forced to kill, however then i would be ready to accept any and all responsibility for my actions whatever the consequences were i would consider them a light price for having blood on my hands.

The term murder usually only refers to the criminal act, manslaughter and such. killing in the act of self defense is just...self defense. so if you were to ask me "is murder ever justified" then id say no it is not. Just the term murder already indicates that it is preconceived and planned, thus making it "cold blood".

I believe that if they can prove that it was out of self defense that you killed someone, idont think they give you jail time. at worst, community service and some fines, but please, feel free to correct me if i am mistaken.

edit: ok soldev brought up involuntary manslaughter so my whole thing about getting off scott free is scratched =P

not all murders are premeditated i believe in the US there's murder 1: premeditation murder 2: "in the heat of the moment" and murder 3: criminally negligent homicide. my source is CSI however so don't trust this too much.

Iron_club_oni was right, here's a brief definition

INVOLUNTARY MANSLAUGHTER - In order for a person to be found guilty of involuntary manslaughter the government must prove that someone was killed as a result of an act by the person;

Second, in the circumstances existing at the time, the person's act either was by its nature dangerous to human life or was done with reckless disregard for human life; and

Third, the person either knew that such conduct was a threat to the lives of others or knew of circumstances that would reasonably cause the person to foresee that such conduct might be a threat to the lives of others.

criminally negligent homicide is when you screw up and someone dies, for example if you built a shoddy building and it crashed down and killed someone that would be murder 3 (i think).

No one has the right to play god in anyone's life, and taking the person's life is like playing god.

MURDER- Never justified. It proposes criminal intention. That's why it's murder. (Meaning, there really was INTENT to kill.) For whatever reason, murder is never justified. (Ex: In movies? Where the character anoounces, "She was murdered" that translates to "intentionally killed)

HOMICIDE- can be justified. There was no intention to kill. (Because if you had the intention, it becomes murder) So if you were supposed to shoot A but killed B instead, your crime is homicide. Not murder, because in the first place there was no intention to kill B. But if you succeeded in killing A. Then now, your crime is Murder for there was criminal intent to really kill A.
