I changed to the T-Mobile All In data plan. Since its unlimited data, and no throttling, there is no need for Binge On and its not included with the plan. Same problem as before. Everything works flawlessly over cellular data except for Crunchyroll. Constant pauses. Constant looping. Its unbearable and unacceptable. I watch Crunchyroll almost exclusively on my phone. I feel like I'm trying to watch it over dial-up.

I'm having the same issues as mentioned above: video stops every 20 seconds or so, buffers, and video and sound lose sync occasionally.
Now, I don't watch through mobile network, ever, and I have very bad internet, which is why until now I blamed my ISP and service plan.
I suspected, however, my troubles were caused by automatic resolution adjustments, so I came here to add a feature request: static resolutions for mobile.

So far, we're given 2 options: Low and High. I suspect Low cycles between SD and 480, while High cycles between 720 and 1080. I could be completely wrong on this, but it isn't labeled clearly... So I thought it would be nice if we could have static resolutions.
Crunchyroll works perfectly fine in both SD and 480p on my PC.

Now, considering a lot of LTE network users are getting this issue, I did a little research, and learned that mobile networks tend to have higher latency (ping) than internet. It got me wondering if maybe something in the mobile app makes it latency sensitive. Mobile networks have an average latency of ~120ms; my internet latency is around ~600ms.
When I'm connected to a network with a lower latency of around ~20ms, I don't seem to get any issues.

I hope this helps the Crunchy dev team come up with a solution.
Regards.

This is happening to me, too, and has been for a few months. Unlike some of the others who've posted recently, though, mine happens over wifi and LTE both. At first I thought it was just my crappy home DSL (25 Mbps in theory) but it does it on Verizon LTE (~50+ Mbps most nights after midnight when I watch).

I haven't tried adjusting the streaming quality settings, mainly because the last time I did it, it seemed like high and low both only gave me really low bitrate video and low quality audio. Only in "auto" can I get HD video and good sound.

I'm watching on an Nvidia Shield tablet over wifi, either home wifi or tethered to a smartphone. Either way it skips while Netflix and other streams don't. It's definitely frustrating.

It's crap like this that make me wish CR would implement a feature to allow us to download episodes like Netflix and Amazon do. I wouldn't mind pre-loading content if it meant it'd be in HD and skip-free. They obviously aren't in any hurry to fix their streaming issues. We should never run into capacity issues when it's 3 am local time and everyone else is asleep!

They've stated that's a planned feature for sometime this year: https://www.polygon.com/2017/5/4/15542054/amazon-anime-strike-crunchyroll.

This issue being worked on yet? I'm having same problem of course lol... starts buffering randomly, audio loops back about10 seconds, and video usually starts to play when audio catches up. Occasionally, it'll just continue to loop backwards. I've been watching anime for 19 years, and this is the first time I've ever actually used a paid service to watch. Tired of poor video/audio quality, videos being removed, or massive ads... thought, maybe I should do it right and pay someone for my Anime entertainment. Surely if they make money from us, they'll have minimum issues, and work to fix them quick... looks like this is on going problem. I like knowing I can just open my CR app, and my Anime is up to date and ready to go. That security feels good... this technical issue... does not!

Same problem here.
Sony Xperia XZ (not Premium). Android 7.1.1, I believe.
The issue happens both on mobile and Wi-Fi.

Normally, when it happens, I just rewind 10 seconds back, then go back 10 seconds forward.
But today when I tried watching Hinako Note Episode 9, I simply couldn't get past the 20:40 mark. No matter how often I rewind, the video will just stop there, and the audio will keep looping.
I had to resume watching on my PC using the Windows 10 app.

Oh thank god I was scared I was the only one, I love to pay for CR to support animu but at this point I could just use other means to watch it.

Been watching it on a firestick second gen with a 120mbps connection so..

Just upgraded my old Galaxy Prime to an LG G6 today and found out that I also had the same issue with videos just constantly buffering. Seemed to fix it myself though by going into the app's settings and changing the video quality to high instead of being on auto.

Ive had this issue for months. after a few emails to customer service the end result was "I hope things get better..."

The helpdesk email address isnt the easiest to find. It seems nobody is actually complaining to crunchyroll and they dont look at the forums.

"This wouldn't be something that is happening across the board with all mobiles, 4G as we would be overwhelmed with emails from members.

It sounds like this could be something ISP or provider related, carrier related?"

So annoying
