In case you decided not to read the article, if you remember that stupid "Cash Me Outside" meme (god I hate having to type that, it only further advances the cancer), you pretty much know the whole story about that stupid teenager who got famous just for making herself look stupid on Dr. Phil (as if she didnt already embarass herself, she had to embarass her family as well, those poor folks).

Well, now for some inanely asinine reason, TV executives have decided that it would be a good idea to give her her own television show. Yes, you read that correctly, you did not suddenly Mandela Effect into an alternative universe. I hope, anyway.

Which brings me to my rant, of how come all the dumb people get famous? I mean for crying out loud it happened to those Jersey Shore oranges, it happened to Kim "I like to display my body for the internet to fap to" Kardashian, and now this stupid B-word gets her own place in the spotlight! How come stupid people seem to attract the attention of TV producers so often?! Is it like a hivemind effect where stupid people are attracted to equally stupid people or something?

Honestly, I can't wait for NASA to accept applications to leave for Mars, because then I can finally leave all the stupid people behind

If you are a cynic like me, the obvious answer is that there are quite a few idiots in this world and they are bound to gravitate to their own kind

Look on the bright side, without the mindless zombies career advancement and job competition would be more competitive so look at it as a blessing from a money making perspective

I understand your frustration though, some of those reality T.V. shows are so devoid of intelligence it really starts to make one question what the heck is wrong with society.

Well thanks, I really needed this at 1 in the morning it's always reassuring talking with others and being reassured that no, I'm not crazy, and others do (somewhat) share my opinions. Also I did say earlier that cynicism is a lifestyle for me at this point

no, no, please, do NOT post that "Hello, fellow young people" meme, anymore, ever. We get it, let's just assume it's already posted.
(I mean, seriously, Hillary's campaigns over; what's that one from anyway?)

Urge to post anyway...rising...

Also I'm pretty sure it's from a tv show from the early 2000s

I used to think the same way, but in my view there are two things wrong with this kind of thinking.

Firstly I think it's wrong to assume that stupidity should be punished. Honestly it's annoying to be the smart guy in the room and put up with stupid people making important decisions. It's hard not to be when we literally hand them the presidency. But this thinking is just born out of frustration. Stupid people can't really help the fact that they're stupid, If you're really superior in intellect but not in compassion and decency, well then you're not really the better person at all. Just think about stupidity like a disability. I mean. It kind of is.

That brings me to my second point, which is assuming that she's somehow being rewarded for her stupidity. Yes she can cash in on this whole fiasco right now, but would you really trade places with her? She's clearly never had a good upbringing. Her life was terrible enough to land her on Dr MauryPhilSpringer or whatever, and an influx of cash from people who want to feel smugly superior to her isn't going to help much. What are the odds she's actually going to be responsible with that money? Even if she was, doesn't that mean she wasn't as stupid as people thought?.The only ones who are any better for all of this are the tv execs cashing in on peoples' desire to feel smug and superior.

You, sir, make an excellent point. You win a metaphorical gold sticker for making an argument I can completely agree with.

Also, the fact she will be that stupid just adds fuel to my fire to want to see her fail, as I cackle staring at the news drinking a cup of mocha.

They don't. Most dumb people are obscure morons who make up at least 30% of the population of random nobodies. The ones that do become famous tend to be in that position because of a malicious phenomenon; most people are commonly closeted, conceited pricks who reduce those "dumb people" down to spectacles, and all for entertainment purposes. On another hand, those "dumb people" may be smart enough to succeed in manipulating everyone else for their own gain, which means that, interestingly, they're actually smarter that many folks. Regarding the Dr. Phil girl, though, there's a good chance that she's being used as a puppet and drained for her monetary worth. She's truly stupid, in that case, and greedy bastards are getting away with it.

That makes the wait for the atrophy to kick in all the more delicious

Because it's funny to watch idiots be idiots. It's not like they're known for anything good, they're known for being idiots you can call that fame if you want.

Oh goody I see you're all as wordy and prickly as ever. Seriously why can't you all be like this spiffy guy right here, I mean hell he summed it up in 1 sentence while you all just shit out paragraph after paragraph of-I don't even know what you'd call it other than the meulings of a inquisitive child arguing about things you want to understand but don't fully understand yet you're still instant that you're right and hell bent on proving it without any answers or proof-Oh my i'm bored now... I'll just saunter on over to the games section now.

Notoriety is not the same as fame, especially of the memetic variety.

Though I wonder how did Kim Kardashian became a leading lady in the world of celebrity women.

*how Kim Kardashian became known at all.

Nobody knows. Historians, scientists, even the greatest minds are unable to comprehend just how she managed to famous. So the answer remains in obscurity to this day...

I think these "stupid" people are far smarter than you give them credit for.

They pander to the lowest conman denominator and give them what they want. You can act like a buffoon and be business savvy at the same time. Keyword "ACT"

Stupid people < Worthy people

An idiot is getting a TV show because

a) A non-trivial number of people enjoy watching an idiot and
b) Filming an idiot requires almost no budget at all.

Probably. Seems like a money-making scheme to me. Not a lot anyone can do about b), and I'm not described by a), so there's really not much to do on my end. If producers want to have some ambition and make something interesting, then I might watch it. If they're satisfied with easy chump-change, that's their business decision. "Everyone's got a mortgage to pay" after all.

I hate to break it to you, but there are plenty of stupid people with money who will no doubt be coming right along with you. So, you won't be able to leave all the stupid people behind.
