35% approval rating. Lowest inaugural approval rating of any president on record going all the way back to Eisenhower. Highest inaugural disapproval rating of any president on record going all the way back to Eisenhower. No president on record has ever entered office with less than majority approval before. Nor has any president ever entered office with this high of a disapproval rating. Even the right leaning pollsters can't get him to 50.

But yeah other than that, people totes love him and his already questionable approval rating hasn't nosedived even further in the wake of his healthcare fuck up. <cough>

We have two large parties. The Democrats and Republicans. There are however, many others the most notable are, the independent and green parties. Democrats generally are more socialist and liberal while Republicans are generally more capitalist, and use old moral standards, and ideas (ie against abortion, gay marriage, don't believe in global worming). Independents are more like swing voters or people with specific interest. I only included the green party, because I like them. They have never held a major office and rarely receive more than 1% of any vote. The green party are inviromental socialists that don't except corporate donation.

At any rate our system is buckling. The parties are polarized, and without third party intervention, we are doomed to swing on this pendulum forever.

Here's the wikipedia page or us political parties https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_political_parties_in_the_United_States

Not going to lie, I read the title as "DMC", and thought it was going to be a post about a new game from the studio. I was wrong, just another damned politics thread.

And the Libertarians, who basically want all government regulation off our backs where not absolutely necessary, and tend to consist mostly of people who moved to Alaska to be self-sufficient in the frontier. Ie., not a lot of people.

By the end of the day, human nature tends to sort opinions into two B/W camps, and we have Those Who Want to Try New Things ("liberal" in the dictionary = "open-minded") and Those Who Want Old Things ("conservative" = "guarded, held back").
And when the people who want Old things start blaming the people who want New things, it starts reminding our country why it's usually children who want old favorite things and call other people meanies for giving them stinky new ones, and dream of the day when they get to be in charge and kick out all the stinky new things.
