Hi,

I was wondering if there was any particular way to ask cosplayers if I could take a pic with them. I attended a spring festival here in Florida at the Morikami museum and I saw lots of cool cosplayers but I didn't get any pics with them cause I was too afraid to ask. I'm very introverted so that also makes it difficult, any suggestions would help. Thanks!

Cosplayers love having their pictures taken. As long as you're not trying to be creepy like an unfortunately large number of photographers at cons are you should have lots of cosplayers being very happy to take pictures with/for you.

"Hey there, I love your cosplay. Do you mind if I take a picture?"

If someone thinks asking for consent is still creepy, despite dressing up, then they are assholes.
Asking for consent is the exact opposite of creepy.

Not trying to brag... But I've got a few tips to get to shoot cosplayers as someone who have worked for a couple of conventions as a cosplay photographer and someone who also shoots cosplayers regularly outside conventions as well. (Ok that was totally to brag )

1. Simply just go up to them at a convention and ask if they want to have their photos taken, they'll most likely say yes and if they don't then ask if they want to do it later. If they still say no then simply apologize and move on.

2. Contact before hand and book time with them, that way you ensure you have time to get amazing photos with them and learn to know them as people as most hallway shoots are just like 15 secs and probably will lead to "sniper" photographers that they'll have to deal with.

Oh and DON'T be a creep

Here's one of my recent shoots at CosplaySM (swedish cosplay mastership)

Thanks for the advice! I did manage to get some pics with people. Hopefully at next years festival, I won't be as afraid to ask.
