So this Saturday me and my family will be taking a plane to Florida to get on a cruise ship headed for Nassau and Cozumel on a 1-week vacation. This is my first real vacation out of the country, in fact, so wish me luck! But while I'm waiting for Saturday to roll around, anyone have any interesting stories about their vacations they've had in the past?

That sounds fun, hope you have a good time.

Funny story when I was on a cruise; Jamaica was one of our destinations. I was with my older brother at the time, and not five minutes after we've disembarked the ship were we approached by a couple of guys asking us if we wanted to buy marijuana. We declined, but good job Jamaica. Points to you for tying to make guests feel welcome.

I was in Budapest, Hungary, and had to catch a cab to the airport for an early morning flight to Amsterdam. It's 4:30am, and we got into the cab, turned the corner, and there was a guy running down the street wearing nothing but tennis shoes.

I remember when we were driving towards one of our vacation destinations when I was a kid and we got in an accident and spun off the highway into a ditch. That was fun.

We went to Taiwan last year, not by my choice and I hated it. It was, hot, muggy, crowded, and I didn't care for the food. My father in-law was dragging us around for his photography. We barely had a chance to relax in one place before we were dragged to the next venue. And we were a large group of 6 adults and 2 children, so it got stressful to coordinate. Not my idea of a relaxing vacation.

I'm a little tired of Japan now, but my first trip about 12 years ago was amazing. We went to a hot spring and stayed in a hotel similar to what you see in anime. I went on a shopping spree and bought a ton of crap and ate some of the best food of my life.

About a month ago we went to Universal Orlando for a couple days. I hadn't been in about a decade so everything was fresh to me. Plus it was fun just seeing my daughter have fun. We had so much fun I got annual passes. Looking forward to returning in a few weeks.

Bro, no such thing as a bad vacation, it can only be bad if you make it bad. It's all about perspective, but you're going to Nassau which is an amazing place. Bahamas is never bad, hell, i would retire there for sure.

On the way to the beach, room paid for tickets bought to events and car crash ruined it all. Lost the whole week and vacation time turned into recovery time!
Ouch... life it happens!

Be cautious of Florida man!

Also, I've traveled to Southeast Asia a few times before.

Not for children...

A more child friendly story... Me and my friends were wandering around Tokyo in the afternoon when we found this little T-shirt shop where we met a guy I still consider the coolest guy in Japan. He was tall and skinny with a headband that held back a huge crop of bleached yellow hair puffed out like an afro and wearing a red Notorious BIG T-shirt (the T-shirt shop mostly dealt in american hiphop apparel). When he sees a bunch of American kids walking into his shop he just goes nuts and starts trying to talk to us with all the english I think he knew. He starts wildly yelling at us, "America! Yes? You from America!? America numbah 1! Japan numbah 1! (while holding up his index finger)" He was so enthusiastic and just seemed like a sincerely cool and friendly person. I mean, yeah he was probaby just trying to sell us some shirts (which we did buy just because he was so cool), but he absolutely made us feel like rockstars just for being american. Most of the japanese people I met on the trip were incredibly nice and perfectly polite, but this guy just had an enthusiasm for American culture that was totally unmatched. I'll probably remember that dude for the rest of my life. He was just too freaking cool.

Well--a LONG time ago my Dad drove my brother and me to Disney World. [Note: We live on the West Coast ]. When we were at Universal Studios my brother got very BAD food poisoning from soft serve ice cream. That's...all I remember from the trip.

I remember one time I went to the Dominican Republic and one of the security guards off the resort tried to put a 12 gauge in my ass

I don't have any worse holiday stories. They were all interesting. There was the college Spanish trip to Barcelona. I managed to lose my entire group when I stopped to tie my laces on the first day. It was great. I got to chose exactly where I wanted to go without having to pander to the rest of the group's choices. I also got to practice my Spanish. They didn't see me again until I got back at the hotel at night.
