A few days ago I had a life threatening encounter with a daddy long legs spider. It was on the ceiling, it stared at me, I stared at it, and then I ran into another room.
Haven't actually been in any dangerous situations with wild animals though. Other than the occasional cry of fear from seeing a spider, I don't go out into the wilderness enough to see anything.

The most blatantly life-threatening was when a bull moose tried to kill me in an empty parking lot early one morning. I was walking over to my car and the stupid thing comes charging out of the darkness toward me with its antlers lowered. I did the sensible thing and hid, with the moose forgetting my existence shortly after and wandering off.

They're remarkably stupid, and dumb looking, animals (the heck knows why Canada loves them so much) but they're also big and aggressive. Typically a few people die every mating season around these parts because the bulls will attack pretty much anything that moves when their dander's up.

Never really had a 'proper' dangerous encounter, but I have seen some dangerous woodland creatures from a safe distance, like raccoons, turkeys, deer, and seagulls.

Closest I have been to was (accidentally) shooting a paintball gun at a hornet's nest. I'm just glad I was far enough away to casually (as in totally paranoid, guilty, but silent) walk away and tell the ref what happened so that no one got stung up the wazoo.

(yes, insects are animals, they fall under the animal kingdom)
