. . . . . this forum needs more fujoshi/fudanshi/people who melt into puddles whenever anime gives them a long-haired prince, whatever you want to call yourself.

. . . . seiyuu video anyone?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sw-tiDOzBcQ

. . . . I feel like there's really a prince trend coming (especially considering the comeback of the best anime prince ever), and I need to finish my novels and get in on this. (three novels, all about princes <3)

The (character) art is quite beautiful; a little more detailed than standard. First episode in, and I'm liking the tutor already. He seems smart and perceptive. I wonder what he'll be teaching these princes. Mannerisms and etiquette are a given. Since the princes likely don't attend school, I wonder if the tutor has to cover the usual subjects of math, science, language, history, etc. That seems like a lot of work. On a side note, eager to find out what the First Prince is like.

The premise does make me ponder how scary a monarchy could be. I can only imagine how awful it would be if a king suddenly dies, and absolute power falls on the lap of spoiled princes like these.

Just look at Imperial Germany when Kaiser Willy took over for a real world example.

Am i the only one getting strong BL overtones for this one? Is that intentional or is this show going to have an actual premise aside from the tutor teaching the boys about love?...

A little bit. Though I can't imagine the brothers falling for each other. I would be very surprised if the show ventures into that direction. Perhaps romance with the tutor I guess. That would get rather messy. Since the tutor's a commoner, I imagine he'd face very strict punishment for any such actions. There's probably other characters to introduce, so anything is possible. On the other hand, that one prince did show interest in that female maid.

Cool. I'll try to read up on him. Though from a quick skim over Wikipedia, my impression is that Wilhelm was a handful.

I guess you are right. I just imaged a sort of Tutor/harem style thing. I guess ill have to keep watching and see where this goes. If the plot is interesting then i guess the BL overtones are fine.

More Tutor.

Less Princes.

Agreed. The stock character princes are annoying, but the Tutor carries things along with his cool-headed determination. I don't hold out much hope this series will do anything but hint at BL shipping, but maybe it'll have a surprise decent story. Definitely not a show to have high expectations for.

re: succession crisis: it's happened. If you want a really good story, look up Henry VII -> Henry VIII -> Edward -> Mary -> Elizabeth... who, obviously was fine and had a long and successful reign, smoothly succeeded by her cousin's son, since she didn't have any heirs... but then James's son Charles was so bad they executed him. (But his son came back and was a good king... but then, repeat with George IV, but then Victoria was good, etc.)

(Fun fact: the actual alternate-history point for Code Geass wasn't in the 1770's - it was earlier, when Elizabeth was succeeded by someone claiming to be her son, who became Henry IX. Yeah.)

Also... I'm sort of the type of person who sees shipping everywhere, but I'm not picking up any Heine/prince vibes. First of all, they're too young for him. Second, he's... not that attractive. He's cute but like... not shippable. At least not yet.
I don't think his being a commoner would be the biggest roadblock, at least not in a story like this one. Not in a show where the Queen Mother comes out and meets him at the gate, alone.
Maybe there will be shippability with characters who haven't shown up yet, with the princes.

. . . . . . . . *pouty face* the princes are adorable though... <3<3<3

Ahh one for the ladies out there, if the comedy keeps up I might be able to stick around making it a "teacher" show might be enough.

I enjoyed this more than I expected to. While there are both some fairly predictable bits and some other bits that just seem odd, overall I just really liked it. The princes are well known types, both in character and looks, to what is often seen BL and harem animes, but I don't think that that means this is going to be either a BL or harem anime. One thing I kept wondering; why Wittgenstein? Ironically his record as teacher was controversial.

Ep 1

I had relatively low expectations going in, yet found myself enjoying bits and pieces of the first episode. Heine is definitely carrying the show, and I doubt that'll change anytime soon for me, but thankfully he is both intelligent and funny. I chuckled several times at his inner quips and at particular scenes like when Heine was reading Leo's diary out loud. Seriously though, his backstory has me interested as well. Heine is incredibly smart but never went to university, plus he is a commoner. It's a shame that the princes are annoying but it's only the first episode so I'm not going to judge too much.

Unless it's later on, I don't really get HoYay vibes from this either.

Sensei is cool, but naaah......

And those princes are exhausting.

The characters/animation is so pretty!!! The comedy parts are more miss than hit but I think that'd change sooner or later. Heine's voice doesn't fit his looks but it's fine since it's supposed to show that despite his child-like appearance, he's an adult.

When I first heard of this, I actually tried to read the manga version(or at least what's available) since, as a fujoshi, I was hoping for BL-ish stuff. I didn't get any BL-ish stuff surprisingly. What I got was adorable comedy! I like shows with smart teachers trying to help/reform problem children (Like Gokusen and AssClass) and this one actually fits the bill. Since I only saw 4-5 chapters, I can't wait for the series to go past those.

Episode 2

After his first student gave Heine a tough time with the test, he's now onto the next student as Bruno finishes the test quickly, and he is pretty competitive. But as talented as he thinks he is, there's just no outsmarting Heine. Bruno sure does have the utmost respect for Heine that he's called master. While he has Bruno under control, not so much with Licht. Then it's onto Kai, who has a violent past. But he's actually a good-natured guy as he really cares for Adele and his dog, and has taken a liking to Heine. That was a solid way to meet the other princes as they are quite a handful to deal with, but Heine is certainly up to the task.
