This anime is still booooooooring and filled with first world Japan problems. Is the Japanese country-side just filled with washed up actors and fashion models at this point?

Also I find and interesting amount of female characters filling positions up in anime's going on now. Waifus sell I guess.

This one is totally resonating with me. I'm definitely finding small town life more intimate and fulfilling.

Episode 3

And now there's a parade for the new queen. Except that nobody is watching it and there's only one car. Reality sure does bite. Yoshino sure does have a tough job ahead seeing that she doesn't know a thing about Manoyama and the locals aren't exactly helpful. So after meeting the guy who was in that photo, Yoshino gets the idea to use the Kabura that the kingdom used to be called, and that means digging out the Kabura Kid costume from the closet with the Chupacabra mask missing. After all that fighting and scrambling, she finally got found a solution to this problem even though it totally failed much like with her job interviews. Anyway, Yoshino has taken up her role as the queen and she's committed to the task, which is a great thing.

It sure is discouraging to try and promote changes, when those that should embrace them openly oppose you. Then again they probably made a mistake asking an outsider to be the face of the project; but at least she is now taking the job seriously.

Episode 3

This episode Yoshino is interviewed where she is asked question about the town that she couldn't answer. In order to that she goes around town talking to people to find out what they like about it. Not only that there is a mascot contest and there is trouble when they can't find the head of the Chupacabra, so Shiori and the girls bring the costume of the Kabura kid. The old guy doesn't want to put it on but the queen has the final say and puts it on. The result of the contest isn't that good but the good thing is that Yoshino now has her team.

Such a low key show compared to so many of the others this season, but this is easily shaping up to be my favourite of the season.

If it wasn't so serious, it wold be hilarious when Yoshino goes around the town and learns, 'yeah, we're pretty much fucked.'

I get the feeling that Kabura Kid was Candy Hag's contribution, given how pleased she was to give Chuprakancho his comeuppance using it. Though, as long as the entire town basically keeps saying that nothing's going to change anyway, it won't despite all the ruckus

While it's not entirely fair to compare Sakura Quest to Shirobako just yet, the one big difference that I see between the two's starts is the level of energy. In Shirobako the girls come right out of the gate working hard on a childhood dream, they're caring alot of hope and energy into their work right off the bat. Sakura Quest's girls are by and large stuck in the same malaise as the town, not quite sure what to do or what success even looks like in a small town.

Not to say Sakura Quest's premise isn't interesting, but the pacing and town dances on the edge of falling into that very malaise it portrays.
