Its a common saying we have all heard it before we all know what it means...

But what does the mind in mind you own buisiness mean. Ya sure you could just dictionairy it... but when you think about it the word is kinda out of place. Like how did this become the way to tell people to not get involved in your personal stuff...

In this context mind is being used as a verb that basically means to think (or to have something or your mind). Mind your own business more or less means, 'think about your own problems instead of worrying about mine.'

I know but mind is still a very odd word choice for such a common phrase

Eh, it's not that weird. It's similar to 'mind your manners' when someone is being rude, or 'mind your language' when someone curses. If anything 'Think about your own business' is the one that sounds off (mostly because no one says it like that).

I fee mind your manners works better as you are to be mindful and considerate. You are reflecting on your actions or words...

It's a figure of speech. 'Mind' in this case is used as a verb to mean 'be aware'. So it could then be taken to mean 'Be aware of your own business'.

It also assumes that while keeping to your own business, you are not tuned into to the business of others.

Makes perfect sense to me.

Yes but that is quite the asumption... I dont know about anyone else but I can easily focus on my buisiness and the buisiness of quite a few other people at the same time. So thinking of it that way makes the first time it was said even weirder... and even weirder yet that it was copied till it became the normal. "Stay out of my buisiness" for example makes far more sense.
