It's a large international flight, so at least they'll have a decent number of movies.

I'm a bit surprised that there's no riot

Yeah they are surprisingly calm given the circumstances

I don't think they'll all spend 29 days in the airplane. zaShunina will probably provide accommodations outside the plane, if Shindo requests it. Plus, I imagine that zaShunina will gradually let people out once processing is complete (1 person every X hours or so). Though I agree that the passengers seem to calm. But on the other hand, they just experienced something completely otherworldly. Perhaps they're just overwhelmed by the situation?

Anyways, quite an interesting tale we have here. I'm curious as to why zaShunina wants to advance the world. I'm thinking there is an apocalypse event in the near future, and he's preparing humanity for it.

I also echo the like for it being grounded in reality, and ep 2 answered why he took a humanoid form - I suppose Kado deemed it to be the easiest way for humans to interpret him. The inner architecture was quite cool to see, making good use of 3D.

I would love a benevolent alien species to come advance our world, with no ulterior motives other than being nice - optimistic, I know. Could do with portals for a starter...
Hopefully he isn't raising humans as cattle for sustenance, nor as a personal army.

Well they can ask that replicator cube to produce e-readers if some people have them so they'll get to do some reading and yes some may have games. I'm sure there will be arrangements for them to get out of the plane for a while. They'll be curious about their surroundings.

What I'm wondering is why does it take 30 days for them to be all able to come out of the cube bit it took seconds/minutes for them to be absorbed into the cube?

I assume it takes longer to get things out then take things in..

'How to serve humans'. XD

This show may not be going for a lot of anime tropes, but it's reminding me of a classic scifi left and right.

I've gotten the impression that in Japan during emergencies, people do what they're told. They follow rules to the letter. i.e. when's the last time they portrayed a riot in a modern Japanese city? There aren't many.
Also, the people are effectively hostages in the airplane. They are equally terrified as uncomfortable. Not being able to see outside is what will really drive people over the edge- but I do not expect to see that portrayed.

He is keeping them as hostages, effectively like cattle, trapped on that airplane. It takes a month to process them all out of the cube? Yeah, well then why did he absorb the jet into his cube in the first place? Shindo is taking his time being real cautious with zaShunina, he's clearly a very powerful and dangerous guy. He may not have any bad intentions, but Shindo's doing the right thing by hiding his thoughts and trying to appear outwardly 'on his side', because he's a brilliant negotiator.

Edit: Also at this point, I'm thinking his working with that factory to come up with a super advanced plating method could prove to be very important later.

I guess it wouldn't make a good story if zaShunina could read thoughts, though I expect a higher being to be able to?
I like the design of his rival negotiator, so hopefully she can put up a good exchange of wits with Shindo.

The supermetal might be a bit too convenient, but something in this world could be his kryptonite.

I didn't expect much from this anime. I'm usually disappointed by sci-fi anime because most anime of this genre are just stories about love/friendship whatever with an actually unnecessary sci-fi setting (or because of even worse reasons ).
But after watching the first three episodes I'm hyped . So far it's simply science fiction (real science fiction) and I'm really glad about that .
I also like the animation. I think it fits and the cube looks stunning .

Just thought of something: who said that time passes the same in Kado as it does outside?

That's an interesting point; but Shindo would probably have noticed it by comparing his watch/smartphone time to the sun's position or something when he went outside. It was sunset the second time they went out; so if it wasn't 18:00 on his watch or a time near sunset he would have noticed it.
Ofc the writers could have missed it; but I think it would have been a massive mistake given how they built up Shindo's character.

Same. It reminds me of the Day the Earth Stood Still or Childhood's End or something. That's why it has my interest, I guess.
