It’s the third year of middle school. Kotaro, a bookish boy aspiring to become a novelist, and Akane, a track girl who loves to run, meet in the same class together for the first time. They’re put in charge of the equipment for the sports festival, and slowly grow closer via LINE. How does Kotaro deal with his growing feelings for her?

The first episode is now out.

Episode 1

This show is awfully reminiscent of Wandering Son. So it begins with classmates Kotarou and Akane together, and they happen to pass by each other several times. In the end, they finally exchange numbers and become friends, but they are destined for greater things. Tough times are ahead for these two. That was a pretty interesting start there as those two certainly are meant for each other, but it remains to be seen what will happen.

Episode 1

Hmm, I thought this first episode was kinda interesting. OP song has an unique vibe to it while the show itself has an atmospheric feel.

Character designs has some distinguishable outlines.

The episode itself seems pretty simple with the premise. We got the introduction of the main characters. Music is nice, really liked the light instrumental OST used in this. Akane is a pretty typical female character you'll find in these type of shows although she also has a love for running. Kotarou is the book guy as he enjoys reading.

Really curious to learn more about these characters as more episodes are aired. For now, I think the show has potential, will definitely be watching more of it for sure.

Episode 1

Oh my god, this is so sincere, well-directed, and heartwarmingly enchanting; holy-shit. This is what I've been wanting for a year now!

From designs to character behaviors, everything fits so well together to give off this enchanting atmosphere that you would witness in an anime film.

For a long time, I've been wanting a sincere romance and I think Seiji Kishi and the staff over at Feel will deliver it to me. The characters act like real middle school kids would and react in a way that feel natural.

Use of camera positioning and angles are places cleverly so that we, as an audience, gain more perspective on whatever situation is taking place. As for the romance, it has a smooth pacing to it where nothing is forced, making it more realistic.

Yeah, I can't wait for more of this!

Finally a proper romance anime!
They are so few and far between; but they help dealing with the overflow of harem rom coms. I think the last one was Ore Monogatari more than a year ago?
I like the choice in music (that op <3 ) but the art style will get a while to get used to. Not sure why they made cheeks white even at home and in the restaurant..are they white led lights set at maximum? Xd
This scene looked so weird

"A refreshing story of young love set in Kawagoe." refreshing!? CALLING BULLSHIT!

School anime. check.
school romance anime. check.
Romance. Check.
Drama. Check.
Not original in the slightest. Check.
Been done a million times. Check.
Boring characters with nothing special about them besides books and running. Check.

I will see if their is anything worthwhile about this, this anime season sure is dry. No I never seen Monogatari and I never will.

Points for Anime that takes place in April, to literally start in real life in April. Bonus - Cherry Blossoms omg!

I don't really understand what was with that bit at the end with Akane spam screenshotting on her sister's phone. Sure that's a slight inconvenience but what was the point?

Pretty sure the entire point of it was to be a slight inconvenience for her sister lol. Pure petty sibling squabbling. She got teased, so she did something petty/inconvenient to get back at her. Because if you noticed when it showed the phone, it looked like maybe the sister had a lockscreen for it. Assuming that is the case, there isn't much she could have done to get back at her aside from spamming her phone with screenshots of said lockscreen.

Thank god I found this show so quickly, it has everything Sakurada Reset didn't have and drove me insane. Mood, expression, character, animation, setting detail, and so many more things that are maddeningly absent in Sakurada Reset. It's really refreshing to go from a show that's so boring to a show that does everything the first show did wrong right, and the show is pretty cool on its own to boot! The leads have actual character and chemistry, I like them as a potential couple and everyone feels like an actual person. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot holding this show back as well, when the cgi shows up it's unconvincing, the pacing is a little awkward and the episode gave me the impression that this is going to be one of those romance shows where little to no progress is ever made with the relationship which sucks, but it's not enough to pull the show into being unpleasant or boring.

I probably won't stick with this show, it seems of average quality and I'd rather dedicate my time to romance shows that do more to stand out, so with how many good shows there are this season competing for my attention (such as another romance series, Anonymous Noise) I'm afraid I just won't have the time to dedicate to this show. That doesn't mean it's bad by any means, however. If it looks like something you would like then I absolutely recommend it, just think about whether or not there are things you would rather be watching first.

The series is off to a great start with its beautiful background animations, Seiji Kishi's great use of cell-shading on the character designs plus an engaging plot make up for The Moon is Beautiful an entertaining show worth watching all season

The CG in this series...

It was a fine first episode, the awkwardness was pretty entertaining.

Gave up on this halfway through the first episode. It's pretty and all? But it's just so stock standard and unremarkable. And honestly, when Akane asks Kotaro not to mention their families meeting by chance at the family restaurant because it's too embarrassing, and wishing she had her squeezy toy because it's too stressful for her to handle this situation? WHAT?! You're in your last year of junior high and you're this embarrassed about running into a classmate and his family at a damn Denny's? There's something wrong with you!

Bottom line, I just don't care about the leads, and if you don't care about the leads, you're not going to care about the romance.

I thought the scene in restaurant with the mothers introducing themselves was spot on. Parents find out kids are in same class and same school its real and super embarrassing but happens all the time kudos on writing real actions

It was believable.

The thing I find interesting is that it's directed by Seiji Kishi who is known for directing erratic action series. It's going to be interesting to see how he tackles a slower and more melodramatic show like this.
