Episode one:

Nothing special, but I"m a CLAMP stan so...

It was okay, but if you're looking for Rakugo feels, I don't know if this show would be it. Still, the ED sold it to me. And I liked the wanna be rockstar and the girl.

Episode 1

This sure does integrates parts of Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju seeing that it is by the same studio, and heck Kurogo made a reference to Sukeroku and the double suicide. So it begins with Kurogo wanting to build a school kabuki club, but that's not going to be an easy task seeing that he needs five members, and in kabuki they must be all men. Well, Kurogo says screw that when he finds out that Kaoru is a trap who looks like a dude but is actually a girl. It started off interesting, but at the same time I'm not exactly feeling into it at the moment.

Checked on the first episode, as I find the general premise quite interesting. Its been decent so far, but I'll have to give it a few more episodes to see if its worth keeping.

Same here. I like the idea of learning a little bit more about kabuki, I sometimes also enjoy shows that are basically "let's create/revive a club!" stories, and while sometimes main characters who are that energetic and gung-ho annoy me to an intolerable degree, this guy's mostly got me feeling indulgent toward his enthusiasm, and wanting to cheer him on in pursuit of his passion.

I also liked the inclusion of a girl (even if she's a tropey prince-girl who therefore got invited by accident) and I liked that last intense performer we were introduced to.

But one episode like this is not enough to get me to feel committed to watching, since there are some directions it could go in that would not keep me interested.

I found it refreshing to see a first year high school student( Male) just have confidence trying to start a club. I couldn't put my finger on why this show attracted me but seeing this guy not giving up and also quoting Kabuki phrases without dumb blushing was cool. The trap/girl from drama club would be a bonus addition and Sid Vicious wanna be punk singer not sure about him. The last dance scene was very interesting made me want to see more.

Yeah, I'll wait a few more episodes to see if this will grab me. Though, I like the ED song.

I found episode 1 to be quite nice. The opening showing the Kabuki performance was very interesting. I probably have only an American's stereotypical understanding of Kabuki so I would very much like to learn more about it. For instance, the bit about Kabuki originally being a sort of rebellious art form for commoners was very interesting. The cast looks promising. A lot will depend on the way the characters continue to interact with each other, but right now I am looking forward to more.

This show may, indeed, be trying to cash in on the success of the Rakugo anime, but as it is taking a very different approach I don't mind.

MC is written like I wish the normal emotions of first year in high school should be in more anime. He doesn't give up and wants to have fun two good qualities. The cast he is recruiting make an all star cast getting excited to see what happens

Episode 2

Kuro starts to get his gang together for his club or at least a kabuki play..at least Kaoru and Hana-chan agree.

And HANA CHAN IS LOVE

Meanwhile the grandson of the performer that we see in episode one basically tells Kuro to go fuck off when our plucky MC asks him to join. Later, Grandson gets a lesson in humility from Grandpa himself who tells him to relax and have fun.

I think Hana-chan just seriously sold me on this show. He's too funny once he gets into dancer mode.

Also, is that the cast doing the ED song? I like it far better than that godawful OP

The range of character expression VA Nobunaga Shimazaki gives to Niwa in just this one episode is pretty good. Looking forward to more emotional rollercoasters from the Wisteria Maiden.

The Wisteria Maiden is Haru?!

Between Handa and now this, I think Shimazaki might become one of my fave VAs

Episode 2

Now that Kurogo has met prospective club members, getting them to join is going to be the bigger challenge, whether it be because Kaoru is a gal, Ebihara looks down amateurs, or Niwa gave up dancing. Even though Kabuki is traditionally done by men, it was actually started by a woman, so that was reason enough to get Kaoru to join. And Kurogo makes a good point that the audience is amateur. As for Niwa, he loves dancing, but unfortunately he doesn't think he's fit for it with his body growing so fast. Well, Kurogo sure knew how to convince those guys that kabuki is for them, but first there is a performance to watch to let others know just how great it is.

Episode 3

After watching a live kabuki performance by the pros, Kaoru and Niwa aren't exactly pleased by what happened in the show. But they like it enough to give kabuki a try. So four have joined and Kurogo needs just one more. They seek out Maru as a costume maker, and her neighbor Akutsu, and Kurogo convinced Maru to join. They got the members, but now they need to find someone who can instruct them, which the school can't provide, and Kurogo shows that he can do it showcasing everything that he has learned watching kabuki. Kurogo sure is passionate and that really comes through in the end.

Kabukibu is like Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju but with the art of kabuki as its main premise. Pretty interesting
